This location’s customer service has been an absolute nightmare! They say car buying in your early 20s is swimming with sharks, and I now understand. The way the employees like Deborah, Newton, Shawn, nightmare! They say car buying in your early 20s is swimming with sharks, and I now understand. The way the employees like Deborah, Newton, Shawn, and other managers at Sheehy Toyota of Laurel have communicated with me so condescendingly has been appalling. The title work on my car has been incorrect for over 4 months. I have been reaching out for help in person, through email and many phone calls , and received incorrect tags and titles throughout the process even though our paperwork is correct. Through many turns and phone calls, this location has held my title hostage and not completed their contract for over 5 months of me having the vehicle. When I reached my breaking point, I contacted Toyota’s Headquarters, but quickly was told that this Toyota dealer is independently owned. They have no control other than being a central directory for phone calls. Deborah Cox, in specific, was designated to oversee and communicate with me on behalf of Toyota Sheehy of Laurel. In the end of my interaction today, she told me that she is “not a psychic” after being asked if I could pick up my 5 MONTH LATE TITLE today! She spoke as if I was an inconvenience to her after asking for what other solutions besides returning my property after months and months of waiting they would see appropriate for my situation… I could give countless other examples of asking for managers contact information and never receiving it, or being BULLIED for months by countless employees, and then being told by a Deborah that repetition of these actions “is not bullying”. I rarely leave reviews for any location, but to stay silent and not acknowledge the multiple employees and unprofessional actions committed within my experience for others to hear would be immoral. If you’re looking for a location to buy a car and patronize, I strongly encourage you to consider other Toyota dealers. More
I purchased a 2013 Ford Escape in March 2023 which had hidden defects. After purchasing I discovered a document showing the engine shuts off while driving. Was this fixed? The first time I used the AC it hidden defects. After purchasing I discovered a document showing the engine shuts off while driving. Was this fixed? The first time I used the AC it started leaking under the dash. Come to find out, the vehicle needs a new transmission for $5600. The SUV isn't even worth that amount. Don't trust the Sheehy name. It's all about money not customers. More
The GM, Chris reached out and the best he was willing ro do was split the cost of repair. Even after telling me the value of the vehicle has gone down to $4000 since it has a bad transmission. I drove it ma do was split the cost of repair. Even after telling me the value of the vehicle has gone down to $4000 since it has a bad transmission. I drove it max 1000 miles so they say. I think it was under. Just because it was a used vehicle shouldn't mean you're buying at your own risk especially from a reputable name. They claim they didn't know of these issues when the car was sold to me. Paperwork left by the previous owner showed there was an engine issue. This was never disclosed to me. And now I'm stuck with a car that doesn't work nor do I have the money to fix it. More
Summary: Textbook Stealership. Don’t waste your time. Sheehy vaunts their all-online, direct buy service. Acccordingly, I was excited to find a vehicle I liked at a fair price, Don’t waste your time. Sheehy vaunts their all-online, direct buy service. Acccordingly, I was excited to find a vehicle I liked at a fair price, including taxes and fees, on their site. I initiated the buying process. After doing so—after submitting various documents and consenting to a hard credit check, etc.—a sales rep(/scammer/crook) responded nearly instantly with a final invoice/sale offer. Great! But wait! It included a clearly bogus $4,000 dealer add-on called FRONTGUARD, described (only after I asked) as a silly paint protection film. I asked for this to be removed, noting that I had declined various add-ons while setting up the purchase, and that FRONTGUARD had not been advertised or disclosed anywhere up to this point. Besides, I can wax my car for free. Multiple sales reps flatly refused to remove the FRONTGUARD “service” multiple times when I politely asked. Clearly, then, this is a dealer MSRP markup (and not a small one!) masquerading as a “product” to reel in buyers. In other words, a bait and switch. I wouldn’t mind this—lots of dealers are marking above MSRP—except that this sneaky add-on was tacked to the price AFTER I had provided documents, credit info, etc. At least other local dealers have the decency to disclose their markups up-front without essentially stealing your personal information and wasting your time. I would describe this as unethical and unprofessional sales conduct at best. But wait! It gets better: When I indicated that I wouldn’t be proceeding with the purchase with FRONTGUARD included, Sheehy disclosed that another customer had actually placed a $2,500 deposit to reserve the vehicle I was attempting to purchase days BEFORE I even looked at it. They were apparently hoping to sell it out from under this poor soul (and presumably still are—get there soon, kind soul, or better: get your deposit back and run!). Again, unethical at best. Cherry on top: Shawn Olsen, Todd Bell, and Kelvin Brooks—the unethical Sheehy salesmen involved in this proposed transaction—explained that, after all, the direct-buy portal where I uploaded all my docs and initiated the purchase, and which included detailed pricing information, was “just” an “automated system” that apparently had no bearing on the final purchase price they planned to offer. I’ll note that the scammy FRONTGUARD isn’t disclosed anywhere in this system. I don’t even know what to say about this . Just stay away. I’ll be happily taking my business elsewhere. More
I wanted to purchase a specific year and model used Sienna. I found it at Laurel Toyota. I traveled from VA to see it. I can't say enough positive things about this dealership! Right from step one ever Sienna. I found it at Laurel Toyota. I traveled from VA to see it. I can't say enough positive things about this dealership! Right from step one everyone I dealt with was excellent. The salesman, Kelvin, did not employ any high pressure tactics, the sales manager, Kevin, was equally helpful and friendly, no pressure. There was an unexpected issue with the rear seat. When we called the service manager, Sterling, he immediately arranged to repair the seat. There was also immediate help from everyone we dealt with along the way. This includes Sterling P., Laurie G., Kat, LJ, and Angela in the cafe. I wanted to include the names of everyone who helped, sorry if I left someone out. The time we spent traveling was well worth it and when I need to purchase my next vehicle I will travel to Laurel again! I would suggest you do the same. More
I WAS happy with my purchase of a CPO Tacoma. I was having to add air every few weeks to most of the tires, so took it to local shop to me(dealer is 2.5 hours away). They showed me with soapy wat I was having to add air every few weeks to most of the tires, so took it to local shop to me(dealer is 2.5 hours away). They showed me with soapy water and flashlight that the tires are cracked and leaking air between the treads. I contacted dealer multiple times explaining the situation and that these being leaking beyond repair is against CPO standards should have been replaced before leaving the lot. I took the truck to Sheehy, and not only did they try to sell me a tire, but insisted that they are not dry rotted. I have over a decade experience in the Auto and Tire industry to know that is total BS and disrespectful to ignore a safety concern of a customer. (Before even bringing the truck, I sent video of the tires leaking to multiple Managers, and was expecting to have tires there ready to be installed, which they did NOT have on hand). After contacting Toyota Corporate Customer Service, my requests are STILL ignored and dodged by the dealership. Make it right Sheehy, this is totally unacceptable. More
1 star. Period. First of all, the sales rep who helped me was courteous and helpful. So, this review is not about her. I asked for an offer on a car which Period. First of all, the sales rep who helped me was courteous and helpful. So, this review is not about her. I asked for an offer on a car which she got. Then, I countered that offer. That counter offer, apparently, evoked the attention of the manager who proceeded to kill the deal. He came to my desk with the most negative sales opening in history. Rather than countering my offer, or, even explaining I'd gotten their best price, he berated me. My offer was insulting to the sales rep and again stated that the offer was insulting to the dealership. He was angry and wanted me to know it. I was keen to have a particular feature on the car (blind spot safety). The Manager wanted to know "why I wanted that feature." Asked "does your current car have that feature?" And, since my 2010 Toyota did not have that feature and I responded as such, he then aggressively said, "why do you need it now?" It was the most bizarre interaction, ever, in the 12 cars I've bought over recent years. One last zinger. I worked to stay calm in the face of these and other cutting remarks as well given his aggressive, super-angry communication, and said as conversationally as I could, "If you can't meet the requested price, just say so, we can go from there." His response? This is the real deal: He said, "Don't put words in my mouth." Jeez. Definitely time to pack it up and head out from this dealership and its distinctly disdainful customer treatment, misogyny, and rich sense of privilege. BTW, we were $1,200 off from each other. Maybe too far off for a deal, but not so far off to throw your potential customer out the door after a three-minute lecture. I bought my car from another dealer later in the day. More
