Had I not been so enamored with the pre-owned '08 Lexus ES350 that I purchased, its ride and performance, I would not have bought from this dealership. Basically the only thing that made the difference in ES350 that I purchased, its ride and performance, I would not have bought from this dealership. Basically the only thing that made the difference in walking away and buying was the ability of the salesman to at least have a command of what he had in inventory. Otherwise, he was the stereotypical, assuming and arrogant used car salesman. First strike against him was his assumption that we would be "upside down" in trading the vehicle we had for what we wanted to buy. After finding out through this stumble that we were cash buyers, he continued to almost nuke the sale. Strike two against him was his inability to pay attention and read what I wrote in front of him, "$18,500 Check," that represented what I would pay after trade. As discussions went on, I admired his Lexus windshirt and inquired as to if he would throw one in for me with the sale. He agreed and started to appear like he was appreciating the sale. Then, he almost gave me reason to walk and cancel the sale. When writing up the contract, he included a $195 Admin. fee to the $18,500 amount. Hello! Uh, I think I made it clear what I would write the check for earlier. At this point, he elected to ARGUE the point of why it was there rather than recovering by possibly conveying that he had misunderstood the dollar amount that I had put in front of him earler. When he finally backed it out, he made it very clear that he was upset, the boss might be upset and the jacket was now off the table. Apparantly David thought $195 was worth the risk of me walking out the door and he came dangerously close to finding that out. I think the final straw that made me want not to visit Plaza again was when I got the car home. Shame on me for not looking it over with a fine tooth comb before leaving Plaza. Sure enough, there's a half dollar size chip in the left corner of the rear bumper. Shame on me twice for signing a "We Owe Nothing" document with the bill of sale. But, I guess that's the risk you take when you buy used. More
