Extremely horrible service, very deceptive sales practice. They told me the vehicle was available and had me drive 35 miles and when I got there they told me the vehicle just got sold. I want to share my experience of Sterling McCall Hyundia the past few days. I called Saturday night and was transferred to Used Sales. I spoke with a salesman named Edward. I asked him if they had a spe the past few days. I called Saturday night and was transferred to Used Sales. I spoke with a salesman named Edward. I asked him if they had a specific car to which he said yes. I said that the car was priced very well and I wondered why it had not sold. I asked if it was a smokers car or had any major problems that caused it to still be there because as I stated, it was very aggressively priced. He told me that it was not a smokers car, that he had driven it and that it was very clean and a nice ride. I let him know that since I am out of town, I am going to pay someone to go there and do an independent inspection and as long as it comes back okay, I will fly in this weekend to purchase the vehicle. I will give a $500 deposit to hold the car as well, we agree. Monday morning I pay an independent inspector $220 to go and do a thorough inspection of the car. When he finishes he calls me to give me an initial reaction. The first thing he says is that when he opened the door, the smell of cigarettes was so strong, they must have left the windows up when they smoked. There were also cigarette holes in some of the interior of the car. At this point, I am already out, but wait, there's more... I won't bore you with the other multiple issues that the car had, but it is very irritating to throw away $220 to have a car inspected because the salesperson is a liar. All he had to say is I don't know about the car, but he flat out said it is not a smokers car. If he had said it was a smokers car, I would have been out at that point. So thank you Edward in Used Cars for making me waste $220 on a car that you either knew was not what you said it was and you lied about it, or you didn't know what it was and you lied about it. Either way, Thank you Sterling McCall for allowing your salespeople to just lie to potential customers. More
One of the most disappointing and frustrating car buying experiences in my life. Agreed to buy a 2014 pre-owned Santa Fe at 6:45pm after stopping by after work. I had to sit in the lobby until 9:45pm to s experiences in my life. Agreed to buy a 2014 pre-owned Santa Fe at 6:45pm after stopping by after work. I had to sit in the lobby until 9:45pm to sign my financing paperwork. No manager came out and apologized for the long wait, but they did sit in their "special office" laughing things up and having dinner (which I didn't get to have until 10pm after signing paperwork). Once brought back to financing, I was told my interest rate would be 5% even though I bought another car 4 days earlier from another dealer at 2.11% and have a 740+ credit score. Completely absurd and the finance guy did nothing to shop around my rate or find a better one. Just told me, it was late, banks were closed, and b/c the car was a 2014 with higher mileage I couldn't get a lower rate. Total lie b/c I'm going to refinannce it at 2% after calling my credit union. This dealership is a minor league operation and I will never buy another car from any dealership with the Sterling McCall name on it. Avoid this one in particular like the plague. More
I purchased a 2021 Hyundai Palisade from Sterling McCall Hyundai on March 24, 2021. As of today, June 9, 2021, I have NOT received my license plate or my registration. The customer service I am receiving Hyundai on March 24, 2021. As of today, June 9, 2021, I have NOT received my license plate or my registration. The customer service I am receiving from this dealership in Houston is 1.0 at best. My salesman has stopped communicating with me. I called the general manager, Tim Harless, and he refuses to return my call explaining why my new vehicle has NOT been registered. My credit union is demanding that I send them the title to my new vehicle that they financed, but I am unable to comply. All vehicles must be registered is a reasonable amount of time but this unacceptable and possible in violation of Texas and Louisiana law. I strongly recommend you purchase you next Hyundai from a different dealership. If you live outside of Houston, I recommend you do NOT purchase a vehicle from Sterling McCall or you may never get your license plate and registration. More
The service is friendly enough, but the actual work and diagnostics have been bad. Had a Hyundai with a chronic check engine light. Brought it in and paid for proposed fixes. Next day check engine light co diagnostics have been bad. Had a Hyundai with a chronic check engine light. Brought it in and paid for proposed fixes. Next day check engine light comes on, take it back have more work done and once again go on my way to have the check engine light come on three days later. Take it back and am told it is all my filters and before they can diagnose the issue I must pay 800 to get all the filters changed then they can diagnose....keep in mind at this point the car had already been there twice and this is the first time I have been told that they apparently had to change the filters to diagnose....makes one wonder how they had been diagnosing the car before. Decided to take it to a mechanic shop I am familiar with and apparently the issue was 2 bad spark plugs... something you'd think the dealership would check with a check engine light due to misfire. Had the spark plugs replaced and suddenly no more issues with check engine light. The dealership sure did try a lot of expensive maintenance and never found the root cause of the misfire...which was the most obvious issue the spark plugs. More
Worst dealership service I have ever experienced in my life. My car is still under warranty and called to schedule an appointment for a replacement, after calling more than 6 times and speaking with more life. UPDATE 8/27/20 to my last review. General Manager (GM) Val Verde actually responded via YELP and asked me to contact him and offered his cell. I did speak with him and we had a great conversation. He was Val Verde actually responded via YELP and asked me to contact him and offered his cell. I did speak with him and we had a great conversation. He was extremely professional and took time to explain the business side of what occurs inside a dealership that the normal public does not see or know. I believed he was honest in our conversation. Now that does not change the fact that I was made at the deal falling through or the dishonesty I felt. GM Val Verde apologized and that was fair. We can not go back in time and change the past, but we both learned and the future will hopefully change for the better with deals made over the phone or internet. If you discover a problem in your dealings with a salesman or the sales manger, please ask for GM Val Verde, as I believe he will correct the issue, if an issue is present. Respectfully, M.
