I took our 2025 Forester in for its first 6K service including an oil change. The car was returned cleaned and washed,,, nice touch. The next day I went to pull a baseline oil sample from the engine for including an oil change. The car was returned cleaned and washed,,, nice touch. The next day I went to pull a baseline oil sample from the engine for testing via the dip stick and was surprised to see the oil level was another 3/4 + of an inch above the full line. I proceeded to pull another 30oz of excess oil out of the engine before it returned to the correct high level, it had been overfill by almost a quart. This a great way to damage an engine when the oil starts to foam. However this happened it is an unacceptable problem usually brought on by rushed or an inattentive tech. I should note the oil was also quite a bit darker than expected for a full synthetic meaning they might have drained the oil stone cold and in a rush didn’t allow full draining thus the oil and solid residue did not get cleared. The oil analysis by Blackstone will perhaps reveal something. I guess folks driving Foresters are not expected to be motor heads. On the side, there seemed to be confusion by the service writer if I would be paying for the service, so much for the free required maintenance offered with a new car purchase at this dealership. It seemed you need to ask for it. I know this service center was great at one time, they serviced my WRX for years, this might have been a one-off bad day,, so just double check the work. More

I took my 2019 ascent in for a routine oil change. My service advisor Mike noticed that my coolant flush was due.
