Brought my daughter’s Jetta in for service related to a failed speed sensor. Dropped it off and received an email the next morning. OK’d the repair and it was ready to go that afternoon. When we got there to pay and pickup the car I asked about a charge of about 15% of the parts and labor cost that had ben added. Explained to me as a mandatory shop overhead charge. First time I’ve experienced this type of charge. Seems excessive and a way to pad the bill. Despite the excellent service I will not be returning to this dealer for service as I felt that I had been taken advantage of. I realize that taking your car to the dealer is always the expensive way out, but this type of charge is totally unacceptable to me. Dealer mark up on parts and excessive hourly repair rates should be enough. More

Dealt with Grant Holtzhaur who was very accommodating and professional. I only wish that the source of the speedometer and electrical problem could have been identified. Reason for appt, car display says time for oil change. Service writer says not needed, due in Dec, year after I leased the car, but 2 recalls are due, and can be done, and were done. In Jan this year, when I leased the car, I was told that service would be due in a year, but if the car told me that it needed oil change, I thought the car knew better...anyways, I did not waste my trip after all. Having said that, I have more to say. When I grade 3 stars is because everybody has done the job they are being paid to do, no more, no less. To me, 3 stars is not bad. Let me say something, besides the issue of the oil change, I would have thought that every time a car is in for service, a courtesy inspection of the whole car, should be done, but I did not see that in the ticket. Something else to think about...I dealt with the VW dealer in Melbourne several times, and every time I did, they washed the car as a courtesy. I am not saying YOU have to do that, but that's a good PR/customer relations thing to do. More
