Sales manager insults long-time customer I've been a happy VW owner with the Sarasota dealership for five years. I got all the recommended maintenance done when it was due. Between my husband I've been a happy VW owner with the Sarasota dealership for five years. I got all the recommended maintenance done when it was due. Between my husband and me, we have owned five VW models over the years. With the recent buyback activity needed because of diesel issues, my husband and I took two test drives on different models because we wanted to stay with VW. Unfortunately, the model I hoped to buy wouldn't be ready with all the bells and whistles I wanted for another year. Therefore, I bought a different brand, but still hoped to be a VW owner again sometime. The buyback date was one day after my insurance would run out on the car, so I called ahead and asked the recommended person at Sunset VW if I could leave the car there ahead of the buyback date. He checked with someone and said yes, and gave me three names of people I could connect with when I brought the car in. One of those people did welcome me and showed me where to park the car. I asked if I should leave a key with them in the meantime. He asked Sales Manager Charles Kennedy while I waited in the doorway. Mr. Kennedy asked me if I was buying a VW, and I explained briefly that I couldn't this round, and he immediately growled that I couldn't leave my car there: “We’re not a storage facility.” He turned back to his computer, his face contorted into a cruel scowl. He didn’t care that I’d been a good customer. He didn’t care that I’d gotten prior permission or that two of his colleagues had already been accommodating given a bad situation (with the diesel buyback issues). Whatever motivated Mr. Kennedy to behave as he did isn’t my problem. It’s time for him to retire. More
