I have been shopping for a car for over two years, and for the specific car I purchased today (Corolla Cross Hybrid) since June. I've interacted with a number of dealerships--some good, some awful. Toyo for the specific car I purchased today (Corolla Cross Hybrid) since June. I've interacted with a number of dealerships--some good, some awful. Toyota 101 has been by far the best. First of all, they are one of only a handful of dealers in the Bay Area or all of California that do not add a "dealer mark-up" above MSRP. A few weeks ago I made calls to all the dealers in this category and told them the make/model/trim/color I was looking for. Most said it would be months before I'd find the car I wanted. I hadn't even gotten as far as putting down a deposit when I got a call from Luis Parada telling me they had almost the exact car I wanted in stock, on the ground, NOW. Usually getting those calls completely stresses me out. I live 50 miles away from the dealership and couldn't get in that day, but would able to stop by the next day. But Luis and Leesa Montalvo at the front desk worked with me in the kindest way. The whole ambiance of the dealership is so different than other dealerships--very relaxed, friendly, without the sense of sharks circling you to make a sale. Their prices are clear up front and they don't bait and switch. I looked at the car but still needed time to think, which Leesa gave me. When I finally decided, Luis got me all the information I needed BEFORE I came in to sign papers so that I could make critical decisions in advance. When I came in to sign papers, Luis was busy but his buddy Castulo helped me out. I worried about undermining Luis's commission but Castulo said they were old friends and often shared sales. That said so much about the dealership. The initial paperwork was fast, but It ended up taking a few hours to meet with the finance guy and review the contract. But even that was pleasant. Luis and Castulo checked in with me frequently, they offer snacks and beverages and comfy chairs. I left after four hours feeling calm, relaxed and happy, which for an anxious car-shopper is miraculous. Today I went to pick up my car and Luis took his time to go over all the components before I drove away. I'm still in shell-shock about buying my first ever new car, but I couldn't have purchased it from a better dealership--warm, calm, friendly, and full of integrity. I'm already recommending them to everyone. More
