"I had brought my car to my micanic for an oil change and..."

- stella03986

I had brought my car to my micanic for an oil change and told him about a recall I received for the Rear Crossmember he would not touch my car except to check that out. I called Tom Chevrolet and made the apointment. When I picked it up they said it was fine and put a coating on it. I then brought the car back to my micanic and they told me they didn't do anything and the rear cross member was all rusted and they only had coated what you could see by looking at it. I then call Chris and brought the car back to the dealership. I called the next day and Chris said it was just rusted, I said that is the same as corroded and he said no it was not. So we went back and forth for about 15 minutes. Then he tells me they used a machine to punch into the bar to test it. So I said, now is rusting out with punch holes in it and that just makes it worse. He kept say no and he's not changing it and I can do what ever I need to and call whom ever I want but he's not changing it. I can take it to another dealership. I have bought my last two cars there and 3 of my girlfriend also did. We will never do anything with them again. Every since they changed hands they are so aweful.

"Every time I went there, my car had to be kept overnight...."

- Eternity

Every time I went there, my car had to be kept overnight. Even for routine things. Had to go back at least three times every time because they do not fix the problem or they make new problems. I had my transmission fluid flushed as routine maintenance, and got stranded (requiring a tow) on the way home because they cracked the transmission. They charged the warranty company for the transmission. I got the car back, and got stuck again on the way home requiring another tow because they didn't put the transmission back together right. This is just one example. The area around anything they worked on would be scratched up and even dented. I picked it up once and it was backed into a pile of dirt taller than the car. I moved away and I go to a new dealer now, and every single thing they had touched (routine or otherwise) had to be repaired because it wasn't put back together right. I am still having problems with things related to things they worked on. They close at 6pm and lock the gates up some nights and if you are not there in time you are out of luck. When I bought the car from them they were very eager to charge me a fee to register the car etc, but after I bought it, their sales department wouldn't even acknowledge me; almost to the point of being rude when I asked them to help me with the registration process. My salesperson wouldn't return my calls, and nobody ever seemed to know where he was. He just wouldn't show up for work. Sales was like night and day before and after the purchase transaction. They even wanted to charge me to make a second key after they only gave me one key. I feel like I got a good deal on the car, but outside of the price I paid, their service and sales support are pretty bad. No consideration for your time. The people are nice (in service anyway, and sales as long as you are buying something), but I regret letting them touch my car. The service manager was a nice guy and knew what he was doing, but unless he was the one working on my car, it came back in rough shape. They just changed their name from Tom Chevrolet to Clay Chevrolet.

"Purchasing my car from Tom's last June was a very..."

- joannchilada

Purchasing my car from Tom's last June was a very positive experience, but working with their service center has been even better. Service employees work hard to do a quality job in a timely manner. They are honest about the time a job will take to complete and the possible cost. I have put many miles on my car in the past year and have required more oil changes and maintenance than the average driver, and each experience has been more pleasant than the last.

"We test drove a vehicle then discussed a trade-in. Mario..."

- paquette.me

We test drove a vehicle then discussed a trade-in. Mario said they would give us $1200 for my car. We decided to visit a couple other dealerships. Mario asked that we follow up with him afterward. Tom O'Brien Chevrolet said they would give us $3000 for the trade-in and a lower sale price (I'm sure they would have tried to scam us when it was time to pay them, but that really is what they offered). The next day, my husband sent Mario an e-mail about the O'Brien offer and said we also had an appointment with Route 44. Mario replied that he did not believe O'Brien offered us that deal. My husband promptly replied that we did not care what Mario thought, we were just following up with him as asked. Here is Mario's e-mail reply to that, which clearly indicates what he thinks of customers:

"Your trade is something that we would not retail so if you want retail you should sell it on your own. If you expect any dealer to to give you a car for under cost and give you retail for yours you need to jump on any deal that is put in front of you even if the car is PINK. I did not lie and if you think I did you will get what ever you deserve when you go visit Rte 44. And speaking of lying you started that when you told Clay Hyundai that I was selling the Elantra for $12,400. You will get a reality check when you walk into Rte 44. And the Jerk you refer to is the Hyundai manager and we know when customers are lying..... their mouths are open.....

Also if you want talk of courtesy you were supposed to come in this past Saturday... Time to move on."

Mario seems to forget customers need to protect themselves and work hard to get the best deal without getting scammed. We bought our car from Route 44 and got the price we were told they would give us (after a bit of a fight, of course).
