Weird experience I'm giving a two ,not a one, because the sales person was courteous and easy to work with. The used car I was interested in was a) in an accident a I'm giving a two ,not a one, because the sales person was courteous and easy to work with. The used car I was interested in was a) in an accident and b) had an unmentioned series of dents and scrapes on the door. But they were unwilling to negotiate the internet price at all, even though that price is on the high end according to Kelley's. They said they'd fix the dents and dings instead. Ok. I decided to take it anyway as the car otherwise was ok, and the dealership itself gets 5 stars. I was literally ready to buy. Then the finance person (not "Drew") said he had to crunch the numbers. Not only did he make me wait an hour to get a loan approved (I have strong credit) he then told me I "had to" put $3K down and my interest would be double digits. He told me he was helpless to do anything else. I told him I couldn't afford it and he just shrugged. So I walked. Both the sales rep and the finance person seemed totally fine with me walking. I really got the impression that they didn't care either way whether I bought the car or not. I've never been in a situation in which I have my checkbook out and I am taking their internet price and my credit is strong and they let me walk away. I drove 45 minutes home and did an internet loan search. I should have done this before, but I'd forgotten. It took me literally 2 minutes and I got a loan approved for 7.9% and 1500 down. At no point did either guy suggest I do that though I was sitting there for over an hour with my phone in hand. I guess they'd rather me walk away and not complete a sale than take a loan from somewhere else? When I called them to ask if they'd accept the internet loan, they said yes, and wanted me to drive 45 minutes back that day . Like it was no big deal. No apology, no nothing. I like the car and want to like the dealership, but this gives me a bad taste. I'm a single middle aged woman and I have to wonder if that has anything to do with it. More
