Inconsistent Service Recommendations When I took my car in for regular factory recommended maintenance two years ago, they told me that my brake pads would need replacing within the next When I took my car in for regular factory recommended maintenance two years ago, they told me that my brake pads would need replacing within the next six months. Two years later with the next factory scheduled brake check at this visit, there was no mention of needing new pads. I have also not had any problems with squeaks, grinding, or performance over the past two years. According to the factory maintenance menu, a brake fluid flush is scheduled for this mileage. Instead of including this in the maintenance package, they included it in the list of ~$600 of additional recommended services, bring the total up to $800. (I did not let them do everything they recommended.) There was no explanation for why these services were being recommended, only a mention that an air filter can affect fuel mileage and even though my battery tested "good" it needed recharging and didn't want me to get stranded somewhere. In addition to the aforementioned ~$800 quote, they also made it seem like I needed 3 new tires ASAP, with the report stating the treadwear is less than state traction laws require. However, my tire wear is actually only just barely in the "yellow", and I can easily get another year out of them. In the ~$700 quote for a set of 4 new tires, there was no recommendation for an alignment, which I know my vehicle definitely needs based on tire wear patterns and handling. (My alignment isn't gawd aweful, just enough for me to notice.) I had detailed my car a few days before taking it in for service, and it looked worse when I picked it up than when I dropped it off. The hand washing job looks like they simply wipe it down with a wet towel. (This is especially apparent on my black car.) The windows are left so streaked that it affects visibilty in sun and headlight glare. The service advisors and shuttle drivers are professional, attentive, courteous, and friendly. The waiting area is clean and comfortable. The free shuttle service is an additional bonus. In general the pricing is comparable with other shops. The routine maintenance mechanical work seems to be good, I haven't had any problems with the actual work performed. More
