It's very hard for me to believe that your customers' best interests are your priority and you want to make sure that they leave happy. I brought my recently purchased 01 Rav4 into your service dept so they could check an error code and try to solve my transmission problems. Your technician said they would proceed by replacing the transmission for $5000 and if that didn't work they would replace the ECU for $1000. Did they think I was an easy mark because I am a senior citizen? Or did they think I was just plain stupid enough to invest over 5K to fix a 20 yr old vehicle? Nice try. I ended up doing my own research and found that the symptoms my car was displaying: rough shifting, failure to shift, and other intermittent problems, was NOT AT ALL UNCOMMON to this generation Rav4 and almost always due to a faulty ECU. Why was your team of "experts" unaware of this problem? Where have they been? I pulled the unit and sent it to a company in Puerto Rico who repaired it for $200 and sent it back. Upon reinstallation my transmission has worked perfectly for over 1000 miles. They also guaranteed the ECU for two years. I would have left your service department "happy" had they known what they were doing and applied their expertise and experience to solving my problem instead of trying to squeeze money out of me by recommending expensive unnecesssary repairs. The bottom line of your service department is apparently their priority, NOT their customers' best interests.
