I stopped in to look at a used truck, and told the saleswoman that I was willing to buy that day if we could arrive at a good price. She was awesome, but her used car manager was not. The truck was saleswoman that I was willing to buy that day if we could arrive at a good price. She was awesome, but her used car manager was not. The truck was priced about $1200 above comparable trucks in the area. In addition, the truck had minor (but very noticeable) body damage by the tailgate. I told the manager that he’d have to discount more if they wanted me to take care of the body repair. His offer? He knocked off $1000 for the damage. That’s it. I told him that I’d look at the other local trucks of the same brand at area dealerships and the manager seemed not to care one bit. I ended up buying one of those other trucks for $1150 less— and it was factory certified! Uptown’s truck was on the lot for about 45 days when I looked at it; more than two weeks later the truck is still on the lot and still marked the same price. Uptown apparently runs a car museum instead of a sales establishment. I feel bad for my saleswoman, because she was great, and wanted to make the sale, but her manager cost her the sale. More
