I scheduled a test drive online through Wallace Cadillac’s official website for a 2025 Cadillac Escalade ESV. The appointment was confirmed without issue, and I planned the visit with my wife to evaluate the vehicle together, as we're currently in the market for a new Cadillac, specifically a 2025 Cadillac V (while I know the V is a limited model), with the Escalade ESV as a strong secondary option. Upon arriving at the dealership, we were brought into an office to meet with a sales associate. After they took down all of my personal information, the Sales Manager entered the room and informed us that we would not be permitted to test drive the 2025 Escalade ESV. No advance notice, just a statement that “it’s company policy” not to allow test drives of new models as they want to keep mileage low on new vehicles that are to be sold. While I understand that position, let's keep in mind that I am looking to make a purchase of a six-figure vehicle. To make matters worse, they attempted to offer us a test drive in an older Escalade (2023) one that was not equipped with the updated features, performance, or technology of the 2025 model I came to see. The closest alternative vehicle was another older model that they stated was undrivable due to a dead battery. This entire experience was tone-deaf, and dismissive of my time and intent as a serious buyer. After leaving this dealership, I contacted another Cadillac dealer and was immediately told I could schedule a test drive for the exact model I wanted, no hesitation, no policies preventing it. This confirmed what I already suspected: Wallace Cadillac’s approach was either deliberately misleading, outdated, or selectively enforced. Wallace Cadillac Failed on Every Level: False Advertising & Misleading Online Scheduling They confirmed a test drive for a specific vehicle; they either had no intention of letting me drive or were poorly equipped to handle my inquiry. This is the very definition of a bait-and-switch tactic. Lack of Transparency At no point before my arrival was I informed that company policy would prevent me from test-driving the vehicle I had specifically inquired about. Disrespected the Value of my Time I took the time out of my day to bring my wife to evaluate an investment into a six-figure vehicle, only to be denied the opportunity without warning. This dealership is either poorly equipped to handle test drives or the Unacceptable Substitution Offer Offering an older, outdated Escalade as a substitute, and then advising of a secondary option that is undriveable with a dead battery. This is insulting and completely invalid when someone is trying to test a 2025 model. No Attempt at Service Recovery There was no offer to reschedule, no customer service follow-up. Just a dead-end interaction that made it clear I was not a priority. Unprofessional Handling by Management The interaction lacked even the most basic courtesy you’d expect from a luxury dealership. This was not just a poor experience it was a complete failure of professionalism, customer service, and brand alignment. Cadillac is supposed to represent excellence, but Wallace Cadillac does not. If you're in the market for a new Cadillac and value your time and dignity as a customer, I highly recommend going elsewhere. More
