We saw this vehicle online and I called the Elhart Automotive campus to see if we can look at the vehicle. When we showed up, the truck was sitting out front running with the air conditioning on wai Automotive campus to see if we can look at the vehicle. When we showed up, the truck was sitting out front running with the air conditioning on waiting to be drove. I walked in to the building and was greeted by Junior. We drove the vehicle and immediately knew this is what we wanted. Junior made sure that we had everything put together so that we could purchase the vehicle. The following day Junior and Caryn did a miraculous job putting everything together and making sure we are ready to go home with our new baby. Once again when we arrived we were greeted by Junior where he led us to Caryns office to do the final paperwork. Most would say that’s where their buying experience ended and they signed, got their new vehicle and drove home. That was not the case at all in the situation. Caryn easily struck up conversation with us and we realized that these people are not just people that work together but they are people that truly are A team and love what they’re doing and have a passion to make the customer feel at home with buying a vehicle from Elhart. It was Caryns cheery personality and Juniors fantastic cat walking skills on the be nice bike in the showroom where we were ultimately felt like we were buying a vehicle from friends not some sly cat making another transaction. Truly Amazing people who are selling excellent products and services at Elhart! I must say the “Red carpet treatment” is an understatement! Great job. Poor Covid-19 procedures & even worse communication To begin with, My family and I have been loyal GMC & Chevrolet customers for over 50 years, in addition, several family members actually work for GM To begin with, My family and I have been loyal GMC & Chevrolet customers for over 50 years, in addition, several family members actually work for GMC or Chevrolet in some capacity. In all, I believe our family has purchased more than a dozen vehicles over the last 20 years alone. My complaints arise after having a frustrating purchasing process in the onset. I was not assigned a particular salesman so Simon Jones, the general manager, stepped in. First of all, the general manager, Mr. Jones, would do well to know his products better. For example, when purchasing the vehicle I received several replies of “I don’t know how it works, it just does,” when asked about the details for the Environmental Protection Coverage and other options. Since I had to wait so long for the purchase to be processed that day, I had to look up the information myself online to get my questions answered since Mr. Jones seemed uninformed. Also during this visit, Mr. Jones took down my information to schedule the Tonneau cover installation appointment which he wrote on a sticky note as he leaned on the computer. Several days later, I called the dealer to confirm this appointment and they had no record of it because it never made it into the computer system to be scheduled. This tells me that Simon did not follow through with getting my schedule on the books. Perhaps he would do well to have a working knowledge of the computer. I brought up my concerns to Simon when I arrived for installation, however it seem to fall on deaf ears. My bigger issue arose when I had to schedule the recall on the remote problem. Given the current health situation with COVID-19, I was very worried about bringing my vehicle and having strangers inside of it. However, the Elhart dealership sent out an email in late March reassuring customers they were taking proactive steps to protect both employees and customers. After reading this, I felt better about calling and scheduling. When I arrived on Monday, June 15 from my appointment, not a single employee was wearing a mask or doing anything with regards to personal protection. Ahead of me in the service queue was an elderly gentleman who was obviously uncomfortable with this too and gestured the service manager to stay away. The service man merely shrugged his shoulders at the man. When I was checked in, I asked about masks and received no answer from the serviceman on this issue. He merely took my information and asked me to wait. From my vantage point I could see clearly that no employee had a mask. When my vehicle was driven around after completion, the servicemen did nothing to wipe it down, nor did they have any personal protection equipment on them – masks nor hand sanitizer seemed to be available. As you can imagine, I was rather unnerved by this given the current health situation and worldwide pandemic. After arriving home that day, I left the service manager, Mike Hazelwood, a voicemail expressing my concerns here. I was very disappointed to have not received any type of reply from Mr. Hazelwood. I did, however, receive a form email from Jan Houting stating that it was “mandatory for the Elhart GMC employees to be wearing mask” and personal protection and included an apology for my experience that day at the dealership. This is the only response I’ve received from Elhart-A three sentence general apology email. In addition to the recall, a replacement part for a dashboard insert needed to be ordered. After my experience with the recall and seeing no personal protection on any of the employees, I requested that the part be shipped directly to me. Two of the service managers with whom I talked on the phone told me they would not do such a thing because they had to install it themselves. I was rather insistent that since this part was very simple to install I would prefer to do it myself since of the dealer chose not to do anything with regards to COVID-19 and demonstrated a lack of respect for mine and their customers’ health. Two days later a package showed up with the part, no note, no voicemail from Mike Hazelwood saying it was coming, absolutely no communication from Elhart. Given these experiences, I have no desire to return to Elhart for any type of service going forward. They had ample time to implement COVID-19 procedures but obviously chose not to. This tells me they do not care about their customers health, nor did they do a good job at communicating. This whole experience was highly disappointing especially given the global pandemic. I hope is that you will address these issues with those at this dealership and make proper corrections. Thank you for taking the time to read this. More
