Carmax claims to have done an extensive vehicle inspection, and only after buying the car did I realize that there were additional findings beyond what was disclosed in the online listing. The car I purchased had the original tires on it, which had chunks missing from the sidewalls. Instead of being wiling to help get the issue resolved, the dealership insisted that I wait for the service manager to get back from vacation, and then bring the car in for inspection. Not only did that require me to wait beyond a week, it also required me to wait beyond the 10 day return period. Instead of calling me back to discuss ways to make it right, the dealership only called me back to harass me about a VIN inspection. I regret giving this place my money. I'll never buy a car or recommend Carmax to anyone. More

They advised either i pay up front the surprise fee or have my bank re draft the form they submitted the day before. Since my bank was closed and the vehicle was a surprise mother's day gift for my wife, I had no choice but to pay the fee on the spot. I was offered a coffee gift card for the inconvenience. I went with CARMAX to avoid the shenanigans of the used car dealership(s) that you read about. But in the end, i got the vehicle and my wife was very happy with her surprise. One recommendation apart from removing surprise fees, if a customer pays to have the vehicle brought to the location of choice, that fee should be added to the bill of sale. More
Things went great up until my salesman left/got fired and the management never bothered to give my sale to another salesman or call me to let me know what was happening with the vehicle I intend to purchase. the management never bothered to give my sale to another salesman or call me to let me know what was happening with the vehicle I intend to purchase. Once I stepped in and went straight to the store manager things worked out. More
