Proceed with caution. In November 2020, I brought my Jeep Cherokee 2012 Overland with 100,000 miles in for a transmission oil change on a Thursday. I was also having them check my air vent system in the cabin and the front end suspension for squeaking noises as well. I received an estimate for all repairs that same day.
By Friday morning, I advised the service department just to do the transmission oil change. By Friday evening I was told the transmission oil change wouldn't not be finished that day because too many bolts were rusted.
By Saturday, I had to call several times to reach someone to find out that still too many bolts were rusted and a peice broke requiring a replacement part to be ordered. (the story changes here) The service liason I was on the phone with that Saturday said it is common to have troube with rusted bolts when working on front end suspension. I was confused. I had to clarify the suspension was not being worked on and that i was only receiving a transmission oil change. He said i was right. Still, to this day, I was never told what part was ordered and replaced.
Sunday they're closed. By Monday morning I received a text message from my assigned service department employee that my left shock blew that morning coming off of the lift and the Jeep was not drivable. I was told I would have to pay for it and it would cost $1200 for the repair... $900 air suspension replacement and $300 labor. I asked to speak to a manager. My car came in drivable and I wanted to have my Jeep back drivable... u was not paying for something that broke in their possession. No manager was available that day on Monday.
A manager called me back the next day on Tuesday. I asked what happened to my shock. How could it blow out if only transmission fluid was being replaced? She said it randomly happened (this is where the story changes again). The manager claims the service shop heard a large bang on Friday and didn't realize the bang was from my shock blowing out until Monday, when coming off the lift. She was kind enough to offer to pay for half of the repair, $600. But, I was still paying $600 for a repair on something that was not broken when I dropped off my car and it wasn't even being serviced on, yet they did inspect it as part of my request to check my suspension. Now, suddenly the car is not drivable and I was forced to repair the car?
The transmission fluid change seems to be fine so far. I still spent $600 on the air shock,, something that the dealership claims broke while in their possession, but they weren't servicing. The story changed so many times that it's hard to have trust in this service department. Very big let down.
Holy crap the horror show at this place is ridiculous.... - mldilorenzo923
Holy crap the horror show at this place is ridiculous. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS AND MAKE THE TRIP EAST. I leased a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and Wayne helped me. The truck had a defect from the plant with the rear hatch / trunk. It was installed crooked. I had to bring the truck back to the dealership 3 times. It was never fixed properly to the point where the dashboard clearly indicated the trunk needed to be closed. After I picked up the truck after the 3rd time there was an obvious stain of compound from the body shop on the driver's seat. The truck at this point had less than 1000 miles. When I brought the stain to their attention - the blamed it on a denim stain from my jeans (black leather seats!!). They declined to service the vehicle and essentially told me to kick rocks. I attempted to reach out to the owner directly and that was a waste of time. After being escalated to Jeep/Chrysler corporate - they advised me that this dealership has this reputation and to go to a nearby Jeep dealership to get a second opinion. I brought truck to Security Dodge and worked directly with their warranty department (Dylan). He reached out to Jeep corporate and helped get my seat replaced, and trunk aligned PERFECTLY. STAY AWAY FROM MERRICK DODGE. This place is a joke. I am now getting my truck serviced (oil changes, tire rotations, etc.) at Security Dodge as I don't want to waste ANY TIME at Merrick Dodge. Thanks for making this experience terrible for me.

Very please with my lease return and new lease. Julio Perez was excellent! He worked very hard on getting me incentives that would help my deal, which came with a lot of negative equity. John G in finance was also very helpful in helping me get out of a lease early and not be upside down. I'm very grateful for their service and now I'm extremely happy in my new Grand Cherokee 🙂
DO NOT GO HERE FOR SERVICE! DOMINICK BAGLIONE WILL RIP... - D
DO NOT GO HERE FOR SERVICE! DOMINICK BAGLIONE WILL RIP YOU OFF.
My husband brought it in to the Englewood Cliffs dealership to replace the shifter cable as part of a recall. He also noted that the “check engine” light has been for a few days, so he asked that they check on that as well. The service manager, DOMINICK BAGLIONE, said the issue was with the transmission valve body, and that would have to be replaced. We were charged $2,666.49, and my husband drove the van home on 9/22 (10 miles away). Only when the van was parked in our driveway did he notice that transmission fluid was leaking from the van, and when he spoke to Dominick he said this was normal, since the technicians would over-fill and the fluid would spill over. He insisted this was normal and brushed off our concerns. The next morning, we noticed that the check engine light was back on and there was MORE transmission fluid on the driveway under the car. We were told to bring the van back into their shop. In the 10 miles it took to get from our house to their repair shop, the sounds the van made got progressively worse and the transmission was slipping. It barely made it to the shop. There, Dominick said that the van needed a completely new transmission, and it would cost and additional $6,657.03. This on top of the $2,666.49 that was already paid when he failed to correctly diagnose and repair the van. If anything, the van was in worse shape than when it was first taken into their shop. When asked if we could get credit for the $2,666.49 that was already paid when they first attempted to fix the transmission, Dominick refused. Since the van couldn’t be driven in the condition that it was in (it would never have made it out of their facility), he reluctantly agreed to have them do the work. Meanwhile, we called another dealership in Teterboro to inquire about how much it would cost to replace the transmission on the van. Their reply was $4,500 - $5,000 for parts and labor. They were shocked at what was being charged at the Englewood Cliffs dealership, and what was already paid for the attempted repair. Yet another dealership in Paramus was also shocked at the price and noted that the facility has a policy of price matching a competitor’s lower price. When Dominick was told that their sister dealership in Paramus mentioned their price match policy, he said he wanted to see it in writing, but overall disregarded it. When asked to speak to his supervisor, he refused to give a name. When it came time to make the final payment, my husband made a last-ditch effort to AT LEAST get credit for their first attempt at repairing the transmission. Dominick was defensive and insisted that he did him a favor by not marking up the price of the transmission by $3,000, so he claims that he did in fact give a “discount”. Note that this “discount” is not indicated on the receipt. Since the van was being held until the balance on the bill was paid, and it was useless to push the point with Dominick, my husband reluctantly paid.
We have since spoken to a mechanic who noted that perhaps the transmission valve body was install incorrectly, or the transmission wasn’t re-assembled correctly (hence, the leaking transmission fluid after the first attempted repair and reappearance of the check engine light), and perhaps this is what ultimately lead to the need to completely replace the transmission.
