Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021 Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles. An engine compartment fire may occur while driving or parked, even with the ignition in the "Off" position.
Action Need To Fix It:
Owners are advised to park their vehicles outside and away from structures and other vehicles, until the remedy is performed. Dealers will inspect and replace the battery junction box, as necessary, and remove a ground wire. On models equipped with standard-duty radiator fan motors, dealers will also install an auxiliary electrical box with a wire jumper. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Interim owner notification letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed May 25, 2022. Owners will receive a second letter once the remedy is available. The second row outboard seats may have excessive forward adjustment capability and/or may have an improperly installed bolt that secures the seat back to the seat base. The owner's manual does not include instructions for adjusting or removing certain head restraints. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 202, "Head Restraints."

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles. The seat belt pretensioner in the driver and/or front passenger seat may inadvertently deploy and lock the seat belt, which will not allow the belt to retract or extend.
Action Need To Fix It:
Dealers will inspect and replace the seat belt retractors, as necessary. Additionally, dealers will install an HVAC drain tube elbow if it is missing. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Certain sport utility vehicles, pickup trucks, and passenger vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 225, "Child Restraint Anchorage Systems." The affected Expedition/Navigator owner guides do not identify the locations of seating positions equipped with tether anchorages and do not provide instructions for securing child seats to these tether anchorages. The F150 Owner Guides do not provide the procedure for securing child seats to the tether anchorages. The Taurus/Sable owner guides do not identify the center rear seating position as having LATCH-compatible lower anchorages. In the event of a crash, the child seat may not be properly attached, increasing the risk of injury to the child.
Action Need To Fix It:
Owners will be provided with revised owner guide inserts providing the required information and instructions for affixing these inserts to their owner guides. Customers will also be advised that if they prefer, their dealer will affix the inserts to their owner guides. The manufacturer has reported that owner notification began on Jan. 2, 2001. On certain passenger cars, sport utility vehicles, and light and medium duty pickup trucks, a switch located in the plastic cover of the wiper motor gear case could malfunction and overheat, potentially resulting in loss of intermittent wiper function, loss of wiper park function, complete loss of wiper function, smoke, or ignition of the plastic cover material. Switch malfunction is most likely to occur when the intermittent setting of the wipers is being used, or when snow or ice obstructs the blades from returning to the "parked" position at the bottom of the windshield. Certain sport utility vehicles, pickup trucks, and passenger vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 225, "Child Restraint Anchorage Systems." The affected Expedition/Navigator owner guides do not identify the locations of seating positions equipped with tether anchorages and do not provide instructions for securing child seats to these tether anchorages. The F150 Owner Guides do not provide the procedure for securing child seats to the tether anchorages. The Taurus/Sable owner guides do not identify the center rear seating position as having LATCH-compatible lower anchorages. In the event of a crash, the child seat may not be properly attached, increasing the risk of injury to the child.
Action Need To Fix It:
Owners will be provided with revised owner guide inserts providing the required information and instructions for affixing these inserts to their owner guides. Customers will also be advised that if they prefer, their dealer will affix the inserts to their owner guides. The manufacturer has reported that owner notification began on Jan. 2, 2001. On certain sport utility vehicles equipped with four-wheel- drive (4x4) and 17-inch chrome steel wheels, the clamp load can be lost on the wheel lugs due to insufficient wheel contact area with the hub. In some cases, the contact area can deform, resulting in a loss of lug nut torque. Loss of lug nut torque can cause vibration or separation of a wheel and tire from the vehicle.
Action Need To Fix It:
Dealers will re-torque the wheel lugs to proper specifications and also install a label that specifies that the wheel lugs be torqued to 110 pound-feet any time the wheel is removed.
