I purchased a used 2023 Chrysler Pacifica for my Non-profit and repeatedly told the salesperson that I did not want any additional products or coverage. Despite that, my contract included a MOPAR Essential Care Oil Change plan that cost me $863. The plan only covers four oil changes with a maximum value of $50 per visit, for a total value of just $400. I was charged $463 more than the maximum value of the plan, but unfortunately did not notice it on the contract until after I had signed and paid for it. They also added a $999 EG Appearance Surface Protection product that I never requested, which I also did not notice until after I had signed and paid for the vehicle. Fortunately, I caught another nearly $1,000 charge for a KARR Security system they had installed. At first, I was told it could not be removed, but after I stood my ground, they agreed to deactivate the system and remove the charge. I understand that I signed the contract, and I take responsibility for not catching every item before completing the purchase. The buying process had already taken several hours, with much of that time spent sitting in the waiting area while the Finance Department prepared the sales documents. By the end, I was exhausted and just wanted to finish and leave. It was an expensive lesson. I'm sharing my experience so others don't make the same mistake. Don't assume the contract only includes what you agreed to. Read every line, question every charge, and don't let anyone rush you through the paperwork. It could save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars. If my experience helps even one person avoid paying for products they did not request, then sharing it was worthwhile. More
