On July 9, 2025, I found a listing for a 2025 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro on Norm Reeves Toyota Dallas web

On July 9, 2025, I found a listing for a 2025 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro on Norm Reeves Toyota Dallas website, priced at $62,639. After I entered my information to unlock SmartPath pricing, the system automatically applied a $2,000 discount, bringing the price down to $60,639. I have a screenshot as proof, and shortly afterward, I also received an official email from Toyota confirming this price along with itemized fees.
On the morning of July 10, I called the dealership to proceed with the purchase. A salesperson named Chris answered, and his behavior immediately raised red flags:
• First, he said the truck was already sold.
• Then he changed his mind, claiming a similar vehicle was arriving soon.
• Moments later, he said the truck had not been sold, and asked me to place a $500 deposit. I also let him know that I’m in Florida and will do paperwork online and will be responsible for the cost of shipping the truck from Dallas to Florida.
• He requested my driver’s license and insurance, saying he needed to show his manager to move forward with paperwork.
I sent all the required information (my ID and Car insurance .
Chris then took pictures of the actual truck and sent it to me, which further confirmed that the sale was moving forward.
But about 3 hours later, Chris texted me again, saying the website had a pricing error, and the correct price was $62,639, not the $60,639 previously shown. I immediately checked the same website, and at that moment, the price still showed $60,639 — but within 5 minutes, it was updated to reflect the higher price.
I called him back — no answer. I called the dealership — they said he was “busy.” About an hour later, someone claiming to be the sales manager called me and coldly told me the website price was a “mistake,” and they refused to honor it. If I wanted to buy the truck, I’d have to pay the full $62,639 plus tax and fees.

❗ This Felt Like Bait-and-Switch
• The discounted price was generated and confirmed by Toyota’s own SmartPath system.
• I received official email confirmation, and provided personal information based on that offer.
• Then they changed the price, blamed the system, and stopped responding.
• Within minutes of calling me, the website was edited — this doesn’t feel like a system error. This feels intentional.

⚠️ My Advice to Other Buyers
• Take screenshots and save all email confirmations.
• Do not trust SmartPath pricing without written, signed confirmation.
• Be extremely cautious with this dealership — in my opinion, this is unethical behavior.

I called Tony and explained that we had a system issue with posting the wrong pricing on that vehicle. That within an hour we had inquires on that vehicle which is how we caught the issue. We resolved the issue and advised all inquiries of the correction. That vehicle is being sold by other dealers at $5,000 over MSRP. We had ours listed at MSRP. The vehicle has since sold at the correct price. Mr. Ha is insisting that we find him another similar vehicle and give him a discount for the inconvenience. Our website has a disclaimer regarding errors in pricing due to human and technology errors. We will continue to work with the client regarding this matter.

Thank you for your continued responses regarding the SmartPath pricing issue.
While I appreciate your team acknowledging that there was a pricing discrepancy caused by a system issue, I respectfully disagree with how this matter has been handled.
I proceeded in good faith based on:
• A price that was displayed through Toyota’s official SmartPath platform
• A confirmation email from Toyota confirming the discounted price
• Communications with your sales team after I submitted my personal information and received photos of the actual vehicle
To now be told that:
• The price was a mistake,
• The vehicle has since sold,
• And that the dealership will not honor the SmartPath-confirmed pricing,
is disappointing and undermines customer trust in both your dealership and the Toyota SmartPath platform.
I understand that websites include disclaimers. However, when a price is confirmed through the manufacturer’s own system, and followed up by communication with your staff, there is a reasonable expectation that the dealership will honor that pricing.
My request remains simple and fair:
I ask for a similar vehicle to be offered to me at a comparable price or with a meaningful discount that reflects the value of the original SmartPath confirmation and the inconvenience caused.
If your dealership is unwilling to accommodate this request, I will be left with no choice but to escalate the issue to:
• Toyota Motor North America Corporate
• Better Business Bureau
• Public consumer review platforms, along with supporting documentation
I hope your team will reconsider and resolve this matter in good faith.
