Costly and unpleasant experience buying a used vehicle from this dealer. Do not rely on their Carfax printouts or their statements – and certainly you can’t rely on them being a dealership of any repute. from this dealer. Do not rely on their Carfax printouts or their statements – and certainly you can’t rely on them being a dealership of any repute. I purchased a one owner, very low mile Mercedes convertible from them – described as a trade-in from one of their long-time customers. The car was certainly beautiful, but after driving it for a few days it started stalling and flashing all sorts of dashboard lights. Taking it to a Mercedes dealer, it was discovered that the electrical system was completely rusted from being flooded, the windshield had been taken out and improperly re-installed, the hood had been removed and re-installed and the car extensively re-painted. Although the carpets were dry on the surface, there was still water under the carpets – in the foam and indentations of the floor-boards – and extensive mold throughout. Obviously this car had been through some extensive trauma which should have been discovered during the trade-in process. This was a trade-in at a supposedly reputable Landrover dealer. They would have conducted an extensive inspection before accepting the car as a trade, so I am not sure if it was just incompetence or deliberate deceit. The car spent more than a month at a Mercedes dealer having various parts replaced – at a cost in excess of $9,000. The car was purchased for less than $30,000 – so this was a 30% hit. I spent a significant amount of time on the phone with their manager – plus sent them detailed invoices of the repairs. I did not expect them to reimburse the $9,000 – I only asked them for some sort of fair gesture of good will. Even a couple of thousand dollars would have shown a bit of good faith on their part. Apparently I wasted my breath. The lesson here is that you cannot trust anything they tell you, that you cannot rely on their sleek showroom or the Landrover brand that they represent, and that they could not care less about bad reviews.
