What the customer falied to say was that he called us stating he wanted the truck at the agreed upon figures but did not want to pick it up until we added some items to the truck. We told him that we needed a non-refundable $500 deposit to add the items. This was because the truck would be more difficult to sell with the adds.He agreed and gave us a deposit by credit card over the phone. We then added the items to the vehicle. When we called him two days later to let him know his truck was ready he said he didn't want it anymore. When he asked for a refund we reminded him that it was non-refundable. We did tell him that we would give him his deposit back once we sold the truck if we could get the money for the items he added from the new purchaser. We feel this was more than fair to the customer since it was a non-refundable deposit to begin with. On another note, the customer didn't go shopping at anotherDealership for a truck till a week later per his e-mails he sent me so he didn't have a better deal anywhere else at the time he changed his mind. One of his e-mails even stated he knew he was wrong but wanted a refund anyway. He will get a refund when we sell the truck and we get our money back for his adds.

I appreciate your response, but I honestly don't believe you employ people I will ever trust. Trust is an incredibly important part of the buying process. Consumers depend on their sense of trust when deciding who they want to buy from. When I look at lists of the Top 10 scams to look out for at car dealerships, I think of my experience with your dealership. I like shooting things straight when I deal with people. As a marketer for a software company, I place a high value on being honest with our leads and prospects and have found that it saves time and ensures our clients renew because of a transparent buying process that simply addresses their problem. Under-promise and over-deliver. Every mailer you send does the exact opposite. Over-promising a value or deal and under-delivering on that promise. There is nothing in me that believes you will make any changes to the way you sell, simply because, it works. Inauthentic, personalize mailers get people in the door, and that sells cars. If you sent out 5000 mailers and only disappointed me while selling 10 cars — the numbers say it was successful. The only thing that will ever change your marketing/sales behavior is when people stop buying cars from you. In fact, even after I asked that you don't call me or contact me, I have received • an email from Dan Nelson with information on a car that I had looked which made no attempt to recognize that I had left with absolutely no intention to buy • an email from Louann Nudi offering $200 off a purchase • another mailer this week asking me to come check out your new selection I will continue to publish my story about my experience each time I receive unsolicited communication from you.
