The repair that was required to get you back on the road was much more than just a belt replacement. I'm sure the other dealer who gave you their opinion was unaware of all that was involved. And the aftermarket extended warranty that you purchased would not cover the full repair. We would never recommend more than what your vehicle needed. I would be happy to provide you more details.
