Thank you Mary, for taking the time to write the review. We apologize that the vehicle you chose to purchase doesn't align with your expectations of range. We have tested the vehicle exhaustively and it is operating normally within the range set forth by the manufacturer specifications. Here is an article to assist you in maximizing your Electric range - https://www.greentecauto.com/conquer-range-anxiety-7-proven-ways-to-maximize-your-hybrid-and-ev-battery-performance/ Here is another article explaining a similar sentiment about the 2018 BMW X5 40e and the range experienced, that coincides with your sentiment on the range. https://www.thedrive.com/new-cars/23644/2018-bmw-x5-xdrive40e-new-dad-review-good-for-kids-but-not-because-of-the-plug-in-hybrid-parts We wish you the best and apologize that the vehicle is not meeting your expectations.

Dustin I’m truly sorry that as the new GM you have decided to take the route as just talking it up as me not being satisfied with my vehicle everyone that I talk to and believe me, I do know a lot of people, and you have chosen the route of not doing the right thing I’m not sure if you know, but I have purchased many vehicles with Gebhardt. I know the blonde in the service department. She knows my dog I used to consider you guys family. You don’t think that I am going to tell everybody I know about you and Gebhardt I’m also taking a look into my legal rights. I’m also going to work with corporate and they are. They said they will help me so I think by you not doing the right thing you’re gonna end up hating your job. I am in Customer Service. I have a very good reputation in Boulder and when I am treated poorly and rudely, it’s not something that I am willing to forget I’m sorry that you did not do the right thing. Good luck with your new position as GM

I’m sorry, but I have some very close friends that I have recommended BMW 25 by chance and they all drive BMW‘s from Gebhardt I’m not sure when but they all wanna go to Gebhardt park there BMW‘s and pick it. Not sure when this is gonna happen, but again you better be on the radar because you can’t just treat people this way and think we’re gonna go away. you know what you guys did was wrong and you want me to go away but I’m not gonna go away because I was totally misled. I have supported Gebhardt for decade and this is how you end up treating me. You could’ve easily done the right thing but this will be my last communication with you. I’m going to have to escalate this to where I have never in my life had to in any other situation but this is just one that does not sit well with me because I am very good at my career and I’m very big on Customer Service when people don’t treat you right it’s just not OK.

Thank you for your response so what you are saying that over a short period of time there is such a decline in the functioning of the battery. It’s like buying a 5 year old cellphone and where the battery will die. So how can Gebhardt ethically sell a 2018 X5 knowing what you just shared on good conscience? Thats all…. You sold a vehicle knowing they the battery isn’t going to work currently and in the short term. As one of my confidants shared with me… Dustin could have easily escalated this and chose to dig his heels in. Let’s see how this will play out.

Thank you Mary, this is the last time we will be responding, as well. In your own words, Gebhardt BMW's sales associate did not set the expectations that you have for the range on the vehicle, rather you assumed it. Furthermore, Gebhardt BMW has exhausted much time checking and ensuring that your vehicle DOES NOT HAVE ANY ISSUE, free of charge to you. Awhile, Gebhardt BMW provided you with a Brand New BMW loaner while we were checking your vehicle. You would not accept that there is no problem with your vehicle, and even refused to return the loaner vehicle, telling the sales associate that this is the only power you have left, so you will not let it be returned until Gebhardt fixes the problem. We have explained many times in many different ways that there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. Please accept that there is nothing wrong with the vehicle, rather your assumption/expectation is that the vehicle should drive further on electric range than it actually does. We have tried to explain that there are many factors when approximating range of electric vehicles, including how fast you accelerate (thus how quickly your input depletes the charge,) as well as environmental factors like the temperature. In colder temperatures the battery will not last as long (The particles in the lithium-ion battery cause the reaction to move slower when they are exposed to colder temperatures, thus hold lesser charge,) and we have explained that we cannot swap the current battery in the 2018 for the newest battery in the 2026 BMW X5 PHEV as that is not a viable option. I fully understand your frustration. You are upset with Gebhardt because we will not take the vehicle back. Our sales team allowed you to take the vehicle home and drive it in your normal daily routine, prior to your decision to purchase the vehicle. You did so, and continued to purchase the vehicle. We sold a 7 year-old vehicle to you, with 61k miles on it. Inevitably a 7-year old PHEV vehicle with 61k miles will not perform the same as that vehicle did as a new vehicle due to degradation and normal wear. As well, Gebhardt BMW paid $3,258.72 towards the damages on the BMW lease that you turned in while purchasing the X5 40e. I know you say that this didn't impact Gebhardt BMW, however I assure you we paid $3,258.72 towards the damages and overages that you incurred during your lease. For these reasons, and many others, we choose to not to participate in this back and forth. We wish you the very-best Mary!

Thank you for your response. I showed it to my colleagues and what we all noticed is that what you are saying that Gebhardt actually knows that the battery of an X5 will only get minimal mileage. So how can your sales team ethically, honestly sell this car without making the customer aware that the car you are getting the battery will die after few miles? It’s like selling a 5 year cell phone knowing that it won’t work.

Thank you for giving me what I needed in your responses. Also I am fully aware that this car was pre owned to a Gebhardt team member so Gebhardt clearly knew that this car didn’t have sufficient battery life
