I found myself at Shottenkirk after a horrible experience with another dealer 6 months prior and a xxx used car I purchased. I learned some hard lessons purchasing used for the first time. I was hoping to trade in the used car and purchase a new one. The salesperson I worked with was great. No pressure (in fact, I left without a car on my initial visit), friendly, efficient. Highly recommend Ed to work with. He gets 5 stars. Found a car online that I liked and was in my price range. Unfortunately, the manager wouldn’t budge on the ~$4K of crap that dealers tack on to the price, nor on the offer on my trade. So that car became more than I was comfortable spending. I left but remained in contact with Ed trying to come to a middle ground on the vehicle. The car sold the following morning, so I’m glad they found someone to pay for all the 'extras' tacked on. I found a comparable car online that had a couple features less but was a couple/few thousand cheaper. They are features that weren't really important to me so I contacted Ed and he was very helpful in closing the deal. I had a number in my head that I was willing to part with and said I didn’t care how it looked on paper, can they get me to that number. To offset the crap added in they upped the offer for my trade in. I’m sure there was other stuff added in and didn’t catch, so good for them. On the flip side, the car they bought from me is a xxx. I couldn’t get rid of it fast enough so it is a win win for all of us (so maybe the jokes on both of us?). I signed and left. Car dealerships have a really low bar to meet to be considered good, and this dealership met that bar. So 5 stars for them. Although I am a little disappointed the manager never came and introduced him/her self. If I turn out to really love my new Palisade, Shottenkirk has won my business for the next one. I seem to turn vehicles over every couple/few years and stick to the same dealership to do so because I know what to expect. Now I am off to work on getting lots of dings on my new car and maybe lose a set of keys so I can cash in on the “VIP Service” package they tacked on to the sale :-) . Best believe I am going in on day 364 to get everything fixed. Hopefully Ed won’t retire before I am ready to get another vehicle. He's a good guy. More
