I purchased a used Subaru Legacy on 02 Dec 2025 from Jones Ford, and first let me say that my salesman, Jamie Grant, and the rest of the staff I encountered were courteous, professional, and made for a Jones Ford, and first let me say that my salesman, Jamie Grant, and the rest of the staff I encountered were courteous, professional, and made for a pleasurable experience. My rating is based on the vehicle condition and lack of general maintenance or diagnostics from Jones service. Sure, I understand the "As Is" condition of a used car. When I test drove the vehicle all the driving, safety features, ex: lane departure, eyesight, driver seatbelt, and airbag system, had warning lights on the instrument cluster. I mistakenly took this to mean that those features had been turned off, and the airbag warning is really a SRS check, which would light because of the others. What I found out is that they were being shut down because of a low voltage battery, and the seatbelt had been disconnected- easy check in service. A few days after purchase, I took it to get new tires (my choice), and I found out that the driver's side wheel hub is bad- easy to identify with a loose movement in the wheel. What confidence can I have that anyone actually inspected this car when things that should have been caught were not addressed prior to sale? It will be checked by my local Subaru dealer on 14 Dec, and I believe more failures to inspect it will be found. I understand that I could have done better at identifying a couple of these problems prior to purchase; but I did not a mechanic with me nor did I put the car on a lift. I'm just a Subaru enthusiast who drove 2 1/2 hours one afternoon to buy a car. Also, I reached out to the dealership to let them know what I found and have heard nothing back except that it would be discussed. Usually, I choose to purchase used cars from dealerships with the confidence that a vehicle will be inspected as part of a possible trade-in or prior to taking the risk of listing it for sale. I would advise anyone that Jones Ford cannot be given this confidence. More
