They didn’t just sell us a car — they took the time to make sure we understood every option, gave honest guidance on our lease turn-in, and helped us figure out the smartest path forward for our family. Most importantly, they worked hard to get us a truly great deal. That kind of care, transparency, and genuine effort is rare. Overall, a great experience with both McGrath Evanston Subaru and Brendan Hancock. We researched dealers before coming in and we went with McGrath Evanston because other reviews mentioned their straightfo Subaru and Brendan Hancock. We researched dealers before coming in and we went with McGrath Evanston because other reviews mentioned their straightforward and friendly approach. For reference, a different dealer we were considering sent an offer through a third party site and then wound up changing it when we asked them to confirm it. This was likely an honest mistake, but it made us nervous about continuing with them. McGrath Evanston, on the other hand, was able to provide accurate quotes and we appreciated the transparency with respect to discounts, add-ons, packages, taxes, etc. We came in mid-afternoon on a weekday, but it was at the end of the year, so we weren't sure what to expect. We did not make an appointment ahead of time, but we were able to meet with a salesperson right away and didn't have to wait long to test drive the vehicle we had in mind. Jeanette was extremely friendly and patient with us while we talked through a few different options, and we really appreciated that she listened to our needs and didn't push us to add things we didn't need. Working with Jeanette felt like a partnership instead of the dreaded zero-sum/adversarial dynamic that often comes to mind when people talk about car dealerships. Kevin was also very straightforward and helpful. Just like with Jeanette, Kevin was very easy to talk to, and it felt like we were working together towards a shared goal instead of doing an elaborate dance. He answered all our questions transparently and directly and then helped us move through the financing process efficiently, We haven't bought a new car in over a decade, so we were really grateful that Subaru offered a tech call with Brendan. I also want to specifically note how helpful it was that Subaru took the lead with setting up the call. I am not sure if we would have reached out to Brendan if it had been presented as a resource we could opt into, but it was very easy and convenient to just say "yes" to his offer to connect. Brendan had great availability and was able to accommodate a request to reschedule our appointment. I liked that we had the option to do the overview in-person or just as a phone call. We opted for phone call because we live ~30 min away from the dealership and the call was just as helpful as it would have been if we'd been in person. On the call, Brendan was very knowledgeable and patient. He was able to walk us through everything we were seeing on the vehicle's display and guide us through all the main settings. We didn't even know what to ask about, so it was great that he had a basic tutorial for walking us through the features we'd be most likely to use/need training with. I could tell he was adjusting in real time based on our conversation - thank you for listening to our questions and helping zero in on the things that we were most interested in learning more about. We're very happy with our purchase, but if we have any issues, we feel confident about reaching out to Brendan/McGrath Evanston Subaru for help. More
