I purchased my vehicle almost two years ago and so far I have yet to pay for an oil change. I have dropped my car off for service and been shuttled back and forth to my job site. I visited Dick Smith’s dealership on a Saturday to look at a car from their website. I clearly explained that I had pre-approval financing through my bank. We negotiated but couldn't reach an agreement on at a car from their website. I clearly explained that I had pre-approval financing through my bank. We negotiated but couldn't reach an agreement on price. A few days later, they called saying the manager decided to lower the price to what I wanted. They even texted me a photo of the price adjustment. I scheduled an appointment the next day, expecting to complete the purchase and drive home with the car. However, they failed to mention that their offer was contingent on financing through them, until I arrived on-site the next day, despite me clearly stating I was already approved through my bank. They admitted their interest rate would be a full point higher than my bank's rate, suggesting I could "just refinance later" (which doesn't guarantee I'd get the same rate again). When I declined their financing, they said they'd have to raise the car price by $1,000 - putting it right back to the original price I had already rejected. I ended up outside in the rain having to call an Uber to get home as I was dropped off by a co-worker and expected to be driving home in my newly purchased vehicle from Dick Smith’s Hyundai. The bait-and-switch tactics and failure to honor their written price adjustment was unprofessional. Be very careful with any deals here and get everything in writing with clear terms. More
