This is a classic story of buyer beware. I was in the market to swap out my current Wrangler for another one. I like mine, but it is a manual and a two door. It’s also on a 4in lift. I have I was in the market to swap out my current Wrangler for another one. I like mine, but it is a manual and a two door. It’s also on a 4in lift. I have assumed care giving responsibilities for my elderly parents (one of which is legally blind and cannot drive) so I decided a more “senior” friendly ride was in order. I started my search online and came across what I thought was the perfect Wrangler. It was a 2020 JL with low miles. The pictures on their website looked awesome and the price was very reasonable for the year and mileage. I decided to buy it. The catch is, it is in Fargo, ND and I am in FL. But I did not let this disuade me. I got on the phone and spoke with a very nice sales person Jon. After asking a series of questions, has it been in an accident (none reported), any major mechanical issues (none, was told “it passed our inspections), so I decided to buy it. Believe it or not it’s cheaper and faster to fly and drive it back than trying to get shipping from ND to FL. I love driving and it’s a beautiful country we live in so, decided to go pick it up over a weekend. I got to Fargo and went to get my new (to me) Wrangler. The people at Corwin were very nice, and I have to say I have no issues with their service or treatment, that said, that is about the only nice things I have to say about Fargo’s Corwin Honda. Jon (the salesman who sold it to me) was off so he had another sales person Tyler waiting to give me the keys. It was raining and overcast so I did a quick walk around the Jeep and noticed there was significant rust and damage to the paint and hinges that were not visible in the pictures online. I also found out later that the front blinkers were missing. This would have been good to know since I was going to drive the thing half way across the country and not having front blinkers is dangerous. The day after I got it home part of the terrible paint job they did to try and cover up the all the damage to the doors already started to peeled off. I propped up the hood and see that the box for the air cleaner is cracked along with the piece where a snorkel would be attached. I have to say, I know that the rule is buyer beware, and that they make you sign AS-IS statements, but it really does disappoint me to know that they would misrepresent the vehicle’s condition so significantly. These are the kind of damages and things that a dealer should disclose especially if it is not visible in the pictures online AND your buyer is literally flying in from out of state to pick it up. Maybe I just expect too much from a car dealership and I should have had them pull it into a covered area out of the weather for a closer inspection before driving it off. Lesson learned. If you choose to buy a used car from Corwin make sure you inspect it closely and have it looked at by your own mechanic. Even though Jed, Tyler and Jon were all nice, since none of them brought these things to my attention I gave them a low score. I wanted to rate the dealership as a whole honestly but that wasn’t an option. More
