I tried with several local dealers, but I found it impossible to find a correctly optioned vehicle without dealing with price mark-ups, dealer-added “paint protection” etc. and salesman who just wanted me to “come down” so they could work me over. I found Rio Vista online. They had the Bolt I wanted with a $1000 discount and no add-ons. I talked to salesperson Marcia Ridpath who was totally straightforward and helpful and she, along with manager Ty and finance person Erick made the whole experience so easy. Did the deal via texts and had a pleasant drive to Buellton. Buying the new car, taking a demo and short drive in it and turning in my leased car took less than an hour from the time I arrived. Beautiful drive and probably less time spent overall than if I bought in LA. I love my Bolt. More

I found Rio Vista Chevrolet on a recommendation from a friend who purchased his C8 Z51 Corvette from them. I placed an order for a C8 Z51 in June and was told it would be about a 10 month wait. Both my friend who purchased his C8 Z51 Corvette from them. I placed an order for a C8 Z51 in June and was told it would be about a 10 month wait. Both my friend and I live 500 miles north of the dealership and since I was planning on getting a full PPF I didn’t want to risk getting a rock chip on the drive home I started researching dealers in my area that would handle the Courtesy Deliver for me. I was also told by Rio Vista that they would not be able to install all of the GM factory options I had selected for my car which I thought was strange since these were options on the Corvette build website ETA and my local dealers install these items during PDI. I found a local dealer that has accepted 100’s of Corvette Courtesy Deliveries and they were very eager to help me with this project. They said they could even install all of the options I had selected that Rio Vista wasn’t “comfortable” doing. A couple of weeks ago I found out I was #5 on the waiting list so I asked the receiving dealer to contact Rio Vista regarding the Courtesy Delivery. A couple of hours later the Rio Vista sales rep called me to let me know they cancelled my order and that they are no longer interested in doing business with me under any circumstances. You would think a call like this would come from the dealership’s GM. The excuse they gave me is that they are friends with my local dealership and do not want to sell a car "in their backyard". They didn’t have a problem selling a car to my friend who lives in the other dealer’s backyard and they’ve known my address for the past 6 months and never mentioned having any issues with selling cars in my area. And if this was truly a mistake they could have simply filled my order and prevented it from happening next time. Apparently, the real issue is that the other dealer found out about the transaction so Rio Vista promptly cancelled the order even though the other dealership wanted to go forward with the Courtesy Delivery. None of this makes sense so be sure to get everything in writing if you’re getting on the waitlist with Rio Vista. I learned the hard way by wasting 5 months and now have to start the wait all over again at the end of the line at MacMulkin Chevrolet who will gladly accommodate the Courtesy Delivery to my local dealership. More
