Another local certified repair shop quoted $1,339.00 for the same thing!
I leased many vehicles for my company and myself from this dealership but that stopped today! I feel cheated, robbed and taken advantage of! My own fault!
It will be your own fault if you go there and pay their ridiculous prices! At least do yourself a favor and get another opinion!

Hi,
I brought one of my 2014 Chevy Silverados into Betten Chevrolet in Muskegon because of a recall, something about adjusting the brake peddle. I bought several of these and had brought each of them in for several recalls over the past 5-6 years! These are part if a fleet and are well maintained!
There were no obvious issues with this truck except for the engine lite and tire lite were on all the time. Didnt seem to effect the performance! On the way to drop it off I noticed a Very Slight vibration which felt like a tire wasn't balanced correctly.
While I was there for this break adjustment recall and also because I am soon going to gift the truck to somebody, I thought I would get an inspection of the vehicle to tell me if there's anything else they recommend to be fixed so that I know the truck was in good condition when I give it away.
When they gave me the estimate I literally had to go sit down in the waiting area to digest the information! At first I thought they gave me someone elses paper work! Didn't take long for me to cross off everything from the list because it was well over $8000 of work and parts! I knew there was no way I was gonna do that however, because I was there and because they did give me the diagnosis I told them to go ahead and do the oil filter and replace the 2 small coolant lines to the transmission and the engine even though it wasnt even time for the oil change yet!
While I was reviewing the repair estimate I called another Repair Shop that I used frequently for various things on other vehicles my company and family ownes. They told me to RUN! "That pricing was enough to do more than 6 vehicles" they said! I felt cheated and taken advantage of!
I came to pick up the vehicle and was given a bill of around $1,440 which also included a $175 Diagnostic fee.
I once again was ill feeling at the pricing!
I did go ahead and pay without making too many comments other than explain why I did not have them do any other work. it was because of the ridiculous pricing!
Considering an oil change is somewhere around $79.00, yours being about $100 and even with the diagnistic fee of $175 (which I thought would be waived if you did some work from that diagnosis) I estimated myself it would be no more than $600, $700 max.! Nope, over $1,440.00!
I attempted calling GMC Corp but then called Bettens. The lady I spoke with said "yes, crazy isnt it? Prices are high everywhere"! Wrong! Its not the high consumer pricing and its not everywhere! According to two (2) other Repair shops I spoke with, its Bettens with their ridiculous price gouging, imo! I also shopped the parts I was told could be replaced. Of course it was much less regardless where I looked!
Anyway, Now, I feel the need to warn everyone I know about this! I've bought and leased many vehicles from Bettens. In fact, I just leased two more a couple months ago! I leased vehicles for my Company and family from Ford, Toyota my Auto imports, Grand Haven Preferred and Bettens.
I dont know if I'll ever return to Bettens but, I can say that unless its a warranty thing, I'll NEVER trust Betten Chevrolet of Muskegon service department again! Workmanship might be good but who can afford it? The sales team was great! If you don't have reasonable service and reasonable pricing after the sale its probably a good idea to go elsewhere! Thats how I feel and thats my opinion! Thats my story!
