My issue began after leaving with the vehicle and driving it for a day. The Bluetooth microphone never worked. I couldn’t make calls, couldn’t give voice commands, couldn’t do anything that required me to sp it for a day. The Bluetooth microphone never worked. I couldn’t make calls, couldn’t give voice commands, couldn’t do anything that required me to speak to it. That might not sound like the worst thing in the world, but I drive all over the place for work and to get the kids where they need to go. I’m always on the phone, and this completely removes that aspect. This issue wasn’t disclosed to me before or at the time of purchase (likely because you guys didn’t check), and on the website, Bluetooth was listed as one of the features. So, I called back the next day and spoke to Casey, who told me to try bringing it to Volkswagen. I didn’t buy the car from them. Why would I bring it to them? So then he says to bring it to you guys, I’ll get a loaner, you’ll take a look, and I won’t pay anything. Good stuff, that’s what I would expect from a "reputable" dealership. I brought it in around 4 pm Thursday (just a little over 24 hours after buying the vehicle) to have it checked out. I got a loaner (Virginia was awesome), and I was on my way, hoping to hear something back the next day as to a timeline or update. I called four times, left messages, and got no returned calls. I called again around 5, got bounced around, and I refused to let anyone hang up without giving me some sort of update (by the way, somebody actually told me they couldn’t put me on hold anymore). Eventually, I got the receptionist (who’s great), and she said Dan would call me. He did and explained that the car went to VW earlier in the day, and he hadn’t heard back yet. That’s at least something. So not completely terrible yet. Monday comes, and I’m hoping for good news (80+ hours with the loaner vehicle, 27 with the vehicle purchased for 25k + some other package from your dealership, if you’re keeping track). Early afternoon, I reached out again since nobody proactively contacted me, and finally, I spoke to Evan, whom I tried multiple times to reach on Friday. He tells me that Dan will contact me. Dan calls and says he hadn’t heard from VW yet but will call me again later with an update. Dan calls at 5:50 to say VW sees the problem, they ordered a part, and are hopeful they will have it fixed tomorrow (Tuesday). I’m excited, thinking I might get my car back Tuesday or Wednesday at worst. Tuesday comes (104+ hours with the loaner vehicle, 27 with the vehicle purchased for 25k + some other $2,000 package from your dealership, if you’re still keeping track), and Dan calls me around 2:15 and leaves a message saying the part didn’t work and they have to order it specially, which will take 3-5 days. I called VW myself to verify, and yes, it’s a part that takes 3-5 days (I actually called two VW dealerships to verify this), but it sounds like they did not start working on it until Monday, which is the reason for all the delays. That could have been communicated better. But all this now means that I searched and searched for a car for 3-4 weeks, test-drove multiple vehicles, then made the decision to buy from McGrath Toyota instead of any side-of-the-road dealership because I assumed you did your due diligence on a car you would sell, only to have my car for 27 hours. Meanwhile, I have to drive this loaner vehicle for a minimum of an entire week, but it could last into next week depending on the delivery of the OCU module. By the way, in my initial message to Casey on Thursday, 8/15, I told him that the OCU module was likely the issue and even linked to an article that explains the issue completely. But hey, 5 days later, VW sees it too. I'm frustrated. I thought I was getting better than this when buying at Mcgrath. I have a 16 year old who I plan on buying a car for around the holidays then 3 more kids 7-8 years down the line who will need cars also. I will not be buying from any McGrath. More

My mistake was NOT paying attention to the financial details as I should have! The sales representative was unknowledgeable about the EV vehicle and has NEVER responded to any of the emails sent. To tha details as I should have! The sales representative was unknowledgeable about the EV vehicle and has NEVER responded to any of the emails sent. To that point neither has the new vehicle sales manager that entered a gentlemen's agreement after the fact to correct the Internet Price offered and manually signed. Do I recommend this dealership, No! Again, my mistake for not paying attention to the details or taking photographic copies of the signatures but I do NOT consider this dealership as an example of Toyota's commitment to excellence or quality. Overall, consider this similar to complaining about your food service prior to being given your meal. Bad idea. More

Needed a vehicle due to an accident. Wanted a Toyota Rav4 as pleased with prior one. Used our insurance company auto buying company to spec out a new vehicle. Elmhurst Toyota responded with the specs Rav4 as pleased with prior one. Used our insurance company auto buying company to spec out a new vehicle. Elmhurst Toyota responded with the specs on a new Rav4 yet to be delivered, providing the Toyota MSRP. On that basis, we drove 100 miles to dealership, expressed interest in the vehicle. Salesperson drew up some paperwork, had us sign a "Non-Refundable Deposit" spot on an unidentified form, said we would go over costs when he was done playing on his computer, took our $2,000 "Non-Refundable Deposit" to his manager for signature, came back with receipt and told us "You're all set. We will contact you when vehicle comes in." In response to our demand for information about what exactly we were paying for the vehicle and a copy of the paperwork, we were provided a Vehicle Order copy and found out Elmhurst Toyota increased the price by $1,093, called it a dealership "market adjustment", charged us $2,000 he said was a Toyota "market adjustment", along with $1,215 in other inflated "prep" fees, $300 in doc fees, $500 in "state license and title" fees. While I could have demanded my $2K deposit check back and walked, we needed a vehicle, drove 100 miles, and wanted the car. But what kind of underhanded practices are these? Lured us in with MSRP, hid the costs from us, and lied. I contacted Toyota Motor Company, and was told their dealerships determine price, that they do not charge a "market adjustment". So, the Elmhurst Toyota salesperson we dealt with, who had a typed list of such Toyota adjustments by model taped to his cubicle wall, lied to us about the Toyota charge, which was simply more dealership unearned profit and we way overpaid for our vehicle. Will never set foot in the dealership again, and want them exposed for the cheats they are. More

Can't recommend Pete I have waited about a month before writing this review to try to be fair. I have bought several used cars and cannot recommend the salesman "Pete." I have waited about a month before writing this review to try to be fair. I have bought several used cars and cannot recommend the salesman "Pete." He is very much a traditional pushy, dishonest used car salesman, so if that kind of experience appeals to you, then you would like him. I am actually fine with the process but would not buy from Pete again. My stepdaughter drove the 2007 Prius we bought, with low miles, just three days after purchasing it, into the city for a swim meet and when she emerged a couple hours later, it was dead as a door nail. I know quite a lot about Prii, including that if their batteries start acting up, they really must be replaced (12V, not hybrid battery), even if they are testing okay. They will keep acting up until replaced. Frankly, given that the car died three days after purchase (and nothing was left on, etc.), I did not expect the dealership to give me a hard time about replacing the battery, but it was really horrible. We spent the entire day there before managing to get them to replace the battery. Pete was not only NOT an advocate in any way, he actually discouraged the sales manager from replacing it until I had written a positive review! He tried to get me to split the cost of it first, which of course would have just been paying for it since they are not paying retail. The cost is about $350. You will endure a lot of pressure from Pete, will likely not get a fair deal, and then you will not be treated well if there are problems. Pete literally lied throughout the sale, which I know, such as telling me a hybrid battery would only cost $1,250 there if it needed to be replaced. That is an outrageous lie. The part alone is minimum double that amount. I asked him for something in writing from the service dept. and was informed they didn't have anything in writing but he had spoken with someone and the cost is actually $2,500. This was one of many typical used car salesman lies. It is not easy to find an older Prius with low miles or I would have just left during this process. I do not like to write negative reviews, which is why I waited to make sure I wasn't overly harsh, but it isn't going to get any better than this sadly. More
