Pulled the "used car salesman" trick at the 11th hour After 4.5 hours doing the "let me check with my manager (Terry Keenan), we agreed to a price to purchase a new Pilot and lease a new Accord. I was blu After 4.5 hours doing the "let me check with my manager (Terry Keenan), we agreed to a price to purchase a new Pilot and lease a new Accord. I was blunt and specific when I first sat down with Dennis that the financing for the Pilot would be for 48 months, and that we needed the 15,000 miles on the accord. When we are finally ushered into the finance office, they quickly go over the paperwork for the Accord. I sign. We then move to the Pilot. MY SALESMAN "CAME DOWN" BY MAKING THE CONTRACT FOR 60 MONTHS! I told him, no, I was clear from the start that 60 was not acceptable. The sales manager Terry comes storming into the room blaming me, the victim. He showed me the paper again. It had my $ amount large and circled (which is the only thing he pointed to when I agreed). The rest of the paper was filled with scribble that he had used for the last 4.5 hours and had buried the 60 months. I walked on the Pilot, and bought one the next day at Continental Honda in Countryside, where the experience was 180 degrees the other way...a pleasure to deal with. The cherry on the whip cream was when I received my first statement from Honda on the Accord lease. HE MADE THAT 12,000 MILES AS OPPOSED TO 15,000 MILES! This was our 4th car from them, and I was switching to a Pilot after 4 Highlanders. They'll never be bothered by me (or neighbors/friends) again... More
