As reflected in his individual rating - the salesman - Cody King - was simply amazing. He was thorough, honest, patient, courteous, knowledgeable, personable, and persistent without being pushy. He was just as respectful on the phone as we was in person. Everything about him was very much appreciated. Todd - the manager however failed to even get close to this level of customer service which was very disappointing. Despite the fact that we were there nearly 8 hours, leaving only for test drives and a lunch break/bank run, and had driven 2.5 hours and over 115 miles to get there, he made no face to face contact with us, never introduced himself to us, not once asked what he could do to make the deal work for us, never thanked us for our time, patience, or even our business once we actually made the purchase. There was no display of personable customer service from management whatsoever. In the end, he approved a backup down payment arrangement for us because the bank was closed by the time we finally reached a deal with the salesman, so we could not purchase a cashier's check as originally planned, but that was it. The only reason we even know his name - despite us having spent our entire day there, and despite Cody having made multiple futile trips to and from his office on our behalf while we were there - is because Mary in Finance told us his name after the fact. As customers with exceptional credit scores (both above 850), THREE pre-approval letters in had from other lenders (all with rates lower that what we were being offered here), credit cards with credit limits more than sufficient to cover our $16K down payment in lieu of the cashier's check, and obviously serious about buying, we had NEVER been completely ignored by a sales manager, or had as many of our requests denied by management as we did at Palm Springs Hyundai. Mind you none of our requests were outlandish. Just things like taking a little bit more off the price of the vehicle, since we verified that it was above the Kelley Blue Book value, and since it was $2,500 more expensive than the vehicle we'd actually come in to purchase, although a year older and had 35,000 more miles...or free oil changes and regular maintenance for the first year, or arranging with a Hyundai dealer closer to our home for us to get the vehicle washed & detailed since their detail department went home for the day before we made our purchase, offering the 3-day cancellation contract as complimentary or with a refund option if we kept the vehicle (which we did), a bow to put on the car for a photo-op, things like that. Well we did jokingly ask if he could extend the price of the vehicle that we originally came in for to the vehicle that caught our attention afterwards, and that we ultimately wound up purchasing. But aside from that, we asked nothing that several other dealerships were more than willing to throw in if it meant losing the sale otherwise. The only reason we didn't go with these other dealerships was because of the pricing games, hidden fees/charges/optional items that weren't actually "optional". lack of transparency, etc. Besides an elderly gentleman that was leaving as we arrived, and another customer that Cody was juggling to close a deal with at the same time we were finalizing ours, we were the ONLY customers in the lobby the entire time we were there, and yet the manager only communicated with us through Cody, delivering the aforementioned "no" answers to almost everything we asked that would have made the deal just a little bit more doable and much more pleasant for us. My husband and I made the 115+ mile drive home fully convinced that our business meant nothing to the manager. Were it not for Cody, we'd rate 0, and would NOT have bought. (Another manager (Andre) called the next day to see if we were still interested in the original vehicle. He apparently was unaware that we had purchased a different vehicle, but at least he reached out to us). More
