My salesman, Tony, was great. Really enjoyed talking with him. He sold the car without even selling it. He just exudes honesty and genuineness. My points of dissatisfaction are as follows: 1) I paid cash for the car, and as soon as the manager realized I was paying cash, he jacked the price up $1000. 2) I couldn't learn the cost of the extended warranty until I'd committed to buying the car--manager said it was a procedural thing--finance covers warranties. 3) My bank has a limit on the amount that can be charged on a debit card. It was too late to go get a certified check by the time the deal was closed. I had already tendered my trade-in, and I asked if the dealership would cover an uber for me to go home and return the next day with a certified check. They wouldn't do the uber, which I thought was odd given the service department always covers ubers when I bring cars for service. In the end, they allowed me to run my debit card for as much as the bank would authorize and complete the transaction the next day (as long as I left my Amex number---LOL). This resulted in a $5000 balance which I called and had run early the next morning. I found management's treatment of me during this portion of the sale a little uncomfortable--like they believed I was shady. Given this is the third new car I've purchased from Palmer, and that I had just paid $3000 for service on my trade-in, I felt they had no reason to doubt I would return with the balance. I've purchased new cars from other dealers where I came back the next day with the whole deposit (Subaru, Ford...) My final point is management pulled my credit report even though I paid for the car in cash. This is pretty minor, but it was an unnecessary hard inquiry. More
