Few early 911s capture the essence of Porsches golden era as gracefully as the 1970 911 E. Nestled between the pure simplicity of the 911 T and the high-strung 911 S, the Einspritzungor Estruck a near-perfect balance of performance and refinement. Its Bosch mechanical fuel injection delivered seamless throttle response and tractable power, while the lightweight, short-wheelbase chassis preserved the lithe handling that defined the earliest cars.
This particular 911 E, chassis 9110200220, is an especially desirable, numbers-matching example finished in its original and exceedingly rare Conda Green (26) over Black Leatherette with Green Wool Pepita insertsone of Porsches most iconic period color combinations. Sold new on February 18, 1970, by Estes Zipper Porsche/Audi of Beverly Hills, the car has spent its entire life on the West Coast, cherished by just three long-term caretakersall within the same circle of family and friendsfor over five decades.
Provenance and History
The first owner, a respected Los Angelesbased film and radio composer, took delivery of a new car and maintained it meticulously until his passing in 1989. In the 1980s, he relocated to Washington State, bringing his beloved 911 along. During this period, the car received careful repairs to minor body damage sustained during a rainstormrepairs that remain well-documented and properly executed. He also commissioned a conversion from the original hydropneumatic front suspension to a factory 911S-spec setup using aluminum S calipers and Koni strut insertsa costly upgrade completed by Beverly Hills Foreign Car Centre in 1978.
Following his passing, the car was acquired by a close frienda jazz musician and composerwho had long admired the 911. He enjoyed it for the next 17 years, continuing its diligent maintenance, and in 2000, commissioned a comprehensive mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment by Aurel & Dons of North Hollywood, a shop synonymous with elite air-cooled Porsche restoration. This included a complete engine rebuild with Mahle S pistons, chain tensioner upgrades, stainless heat exchangers, and a full repaint in the original Conda Green. The interior was retrimmed with new seat covers, door panels, carpet, and dash. Over $32,000 was invested at the timeequivalent to roughly $50,000 today.
In 2006, the last long-term custodianan active member of the Early S Registry and R Gruppeacquired the car, continuing its tradition of enthusiastic, expert care. Over his nearly two-decade tenure, he has invested in an extensive array of sympathetic upgrades and refurbishments, including suspension overhaul by Steve Alarcon (Johnsons Alignment), new deep 6x15 Fuchs wheels restored by Harvey Weidman, and a top-end engine rebuild by Richard Dick of Air Cooled. The mechanical presentation is as strong as its documentation: the car starts instantly, idles smoothly, and delivers its 2.2-liter flat-six power with satisfying vigor through a precise 901 gearbox.
Condition
Now showing 77,807 miles on the odometer, with only 9,800 miles since its top-end rebuild, this 911 E presents as a beautifully preserved driver-level example. The Conda Green paint, though applied over two decades ago, retains an excellent luster, with minor checking visible only under close inspection and strong lighttestament to careful, garage-kept ownership. The panels are straight, the gaps are tight, and the chassis is notably dry. The car rides on period-correct Pirelli CN36 tires over pristine Deep 6 Fuchs, and retains its original brightwork and glass in remarkable condition.
Inside, the cabin exudes authentic early-911 charm, highlighted by freshly restored factory Pepita seat inserts, correct Haargarn carpeting, and a clean original headliner. All gauges and switches function
