1998 Porsche 911 (993) Carrera S RWD 6-Speed Coupe: An undeniably arresting, 13K-mile example draped in the infrequently seen color-way of Oak Green Metallic over a beige cabin. Last year of the 993 with around 993 produced for the U.S. featuring the 1998 model year designation. The 993 Carrera S was introduced for the 1997 model year and production concluded the following year with only 1,752 U.S.-market units produced during this period. Boasts the wide rear fenders from the turbo model along with additional Turbo-specific styling cues.
The 993 represents the final evolution of the original air-cooled 911, and it shows. Everything about it feels considered and complete. It is from a generation that is only gotten more sought-after over time, and once you spend time with one, it is easy to understand why.
Plenty of great 911s have come since, but none have quite nailed what makes the 993 feel so special. There is a presence to it, a mechanical honesty that newer models just don not capture. It is in the way it moves, the way it sounds, the way it communicates. Even something as simple as the way the door shuts, with that signature click, tells you exactly how well it was built.
