It looked like a 1950s Chevy truck and a 32 Ford roadster had a child - all steel curves, flared fenders, and a chopped stance right from the custom car world. But this one came with a factory warranty and A/C. Inspired by Chevys 1947-1953 Advance Design pickups, the SSR featured deep-draw stamped steel panels and was hand-assembled at GMs Lansing Craft Center, home to Corvette prototypes and other low-volume builds.A Convertible PickupThe SSR was the first modern retractable hardtop pickup. At the touch of a button, its two-piece power top folded neatly into a hidden compartment - a mechanical ballet of electric motors and hydraulics that turned a truck into a roadster in 30 seconds.Power and StyleThis SSR packs a 5.3-liter V8 with automatic transmission, delivering a throaty exhaust note and effortless torque.
