The 2016 BMW 3 Series was a finalist for the ''Best Upscale Small Car for the Money'' and ''Best Upscale Small Car for Families'' awards by U.S. News & World Report. It was also a finalist for Car and Driver's ''Sports Car of the Year'' award. While it received good safety ratings in some areas, it did not earn the ''TOP SAFETY PICK'' or ''TOP SAFETY PICK+'' from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety due to its performance in the small overlap front test. Only 81,050 miles on its odometer too!
