Seller's Comments
The 2016 Jeep Patriot High Altitude is an interesting paradox. It is one of the last "pure" boxy SUVsa design that screams rugged utilitydressed up with premium creature comforts that make it a much more livable daily driver than its lower-trim siblings.
The High Altitude Package: Polishing the Diamond
The High Altitude edition was designed to take the utilitarian Patriot and give it a "mini-Grand Cherokee" feel. It sits atop the Latitude trim and adds several key upgrades:
Leather-Trimmed Seating: A significant step up from the standard cloth, giving the cabin a much more premium feel.
Power Features: A power 6-way driver's seat and a power sunroof come standard, brightening the cabin.
Exterior Bling: 17-inch Granite Painted pocket wheels and bright chrome accents on the fascia and roof rails give it a sophisticated, "city-ready" look.
Performance: Capability over Speed
Under the hood, youll typically find the 2.4L World Gas Engine paired with the 6-speed automatic transmission.
The Transmission Win: Thankfully, by 2016, most 4WD Patriots moved away from the loud CVT to a traditional 6-speed automatic, which feels much more natural and provides better reliability.
Off-Road Pedigree: While its a car-based platform, the Patriot (especially if equipped with Freedom Drive I) handles snow, dirt roads, and light trails with more confidence than a Honda CR-V or Toyota RAV4 of the same era.
Interior: Simple and Functional
The Patriot doesn't try to win any futuristic design awards. It is straightforward and honest.
Visibility: Because of its upright pillars and boxy shape, the outward visibility is world-class. You always know exactly where the corners of the vehicle are.
Cargo Space: The rear seats fold flat, and the High Altitudes leather surface makes it easy to wipe down after hauling gear or groceries.
The Vibe: It feels solid. Its not whisper-quiet, but theres a sense of "Jeep toughness" in the cabin that makes you feel like you're driving a real truck rather than a bloated sedan.
Reliability and Value
The 2016 model year is widely considered one of the most reliable for the Patriot because Jeep had a decade to work out the kinks. Parts are plentiful and inexpensive, and the mechanicals are simple enough for DIY enthusiasts to maintain.
