We were surprised to find the Taos, one of the larger SUVs in this diminutive class, is also one of the quickest. Spacious for a little guy, good cargo room, the closest thing we have to a Golf hatchback now. VW's littlest SUV is right-sized for urban dwellers, and the 2025 Taos's updated looks help set it apart in a crowded segment. A revised engine for 2025, now making 174 horsepower, offers some additional oomph, and the Taos remains an efficient runabout. There's a good amount of space for people and their gear. We recommend the mid-level SE model because it provides the best value.
