This was a horrible experience and I strongly recommend anyone looking to purchase a car to stay away from the Brandon Hyundai on Adamo and from Tony Jones. The staff is nice enough but they will screw you anyone looking to purchase a car to stay away from the Brandon Hyundai on Adamo and from Tony Jones. The staff is nice enough but they will screw you on the price. 1. Tony did not seem aware of the deals being advertised by the dealership, or at least he hoped I did not know about them. He repeatedly said "well I dont know about that". When I brought them up he demanded that I prove it. So I brought up the site on my phone and showed him the ad. At this point he basically admitted that the ad was a bait and switch scam to get people in the door. And he is supposed to be their internet department guy as listed below. 2. The dealership tried to sell me a manufacturer guaranteed maintenence plan as part of their "dealer installed options". When I highlighted that this was complementary from the manufacturer, they said "well, its the other stuff" also listed under dealer options. The other stuff were basic road side assistance, nitrogen in your tires, and free towing. Most of that are basic things you already have with your basic insurance plan, AAA Membership or even with an American Express cash back card account. They tried to charge me OVER $2800 FOR THIS. I had to point out the fine print on the window sticker that dealer options were not required for the purchase of a vehicle. 3. They tried to deny me the manufacturer rebates. Hyundai was/is running a 2500 bonus cash and a 1000 military/veteran rebate among other things. They initially did not offer it until I started making a fuss in front of other customers about how the numbers were not adding up. 4. They low balled me on my trade in. Only offered me 3000 to 3500 in trade in value for my 2012 Sonata. It wasn't in the best of shape, but fair value should have been closer to 4000. 5. Tried to charge me for financing with someone else. I had a bank draft and the finance guy told me there would be a 500 charge for financing with someone else. He did end up getting me a loan of less interest than what my bank offered. 6. Purchase price changed at financing. When I went in to finance the car after I agreed on an "out the door" price with the sales department,, they added 100's of dollars worth to the total. When I asked them to explain the discrepancy, the finance guy had to go back and change the numbers. Maybe an honest mistake but considering everything else that had happened this just seemed really shady and them trying to add additional charges. He also seemed confused about the difference between a loan origination fee or processing fee and the interest cost. I made sure there was no origination or processing fee. 6. They forgot I existed after I walked off the lot. This one is wholly on me. I signed the paperwork and drove off the lot without closely inspecting the car. I got home and my wife noticed a small scratch. I called Tony and he said he would look at it and help me out. But has not returned my calls. 7. Bullying me into writing a good review. Tony actually showed me this site and asked that I rate him. He looked over my shoulder as I typed to ensure a good review and when I tried to put in anything less than 5 stars he practically reached at my phone and put in 5 stars. I left it at the time because I felt intimidated, but I am changing it now so that everyone is aware and stays away from this guy and this dealership. Bottom line, take your business elsewhere. Places like this are the reason people hate dealerships. It is a real shame. I loved this place and their service department and had been going to them for 8 years for service. I dont mind paying a premium for dealership guaranteed work. Wont be going back to buy from them and neither should you! More
