Came in due to battery and electrical concerns due to start hesitation. Just happened that a fuel pump recall needed doing and an oil change and checkup so we did those too. But the Reason we came in was the battery and start concern. Service good, kind people, all around good experience. At checkout when I asked about the battery they said it was slightly low on charge but was fine. I left happy. My wife took it to work the next day and came home saying there was an awful sulfur smell. Since we did the fuel pump recall we immediately thought that something might be off. But the car was running fine, just with an odd smell. Then after a week suddenly the car wouldn’t start. No turnover no nothing it was suddenly dead. It wouldn’t even jump start. Finally before I called a tow I tried jumping one more time and it started. Took it to Brannon Honda same day (already called ahead to the mgr there). Now I could smell the sulfur. Took them 2 minutes to do a diagnostic to find the battery WAS shorted and boiling acid! Yet somehow this battery passed a diagnostic less than a week ago when we already had battery concerns? Of course I’m not driving it away from this place without fixing it and they are charging me almost $400 for the gd repair. No apologies, no discount no nothing. Fyi, the side story is that the car got hit by a tire and shattered the front bumper on the way back to the service center. The cherry on top to make a bad experience horrible to the tune of $1087 with a $500 deducible. All would have been avoided had they done the job right, focused on the problem we brought it in for. If I have ANY other choice in the world I’ll take it instead of trusting Brannon Honda in Irondale. I cannot express how angry I am that what could have been a $200 basic, easy replacement turned into a $1600 multi-day sh*tshow and first damage I’ve had to a car in 30 years. More
