I purchased a used, low mileage Cross Trek for my son. He hit a curb a blew out a tire. I out in the spare and brought the damaged tire in, so my son could drive to school the next morning. They refused to change the tire without bringing in the vehicle, so I went next door to a tire store and had a new tire installed. After putting the new tire on, his car started making a noise when reaching 50 MPH that sounded like a bad wheel bearing, which made sense considering he hit a curb hard enough to rupture a tire. I took the car into Byers Subaru Dublin to have them check the wheel bearing. After several hours they called and said the noise was probably from one tire being different than the other 3, and that the solution would be 4 new tires. The original 3 had less than 4k miles of wear, and the new tire had less than 50 miles of wear. I noted what had happened, and that all the symptoms were similar to a wheel bearing needing replaced. The service rep said that front wheel bearings don’t go bad, and because of the all wheel drive, having 4 new and matching tires would solve the problem. He also said the wheel was bent, and should be replaced. I then took the car into a tire shop and simply stated the car was making a weird noise. They quickly deduced that the wheel bearing was bad and recommended a quick replacement. I asked them to check the wear difference of the tires and also to check if the wheel in question was damaged. They stated that the wheel was not bent, and that the wear difference between the tires was minimal and likely not contributing any excess noise. They were able to fix the issue in a couple of hours for $600.00 after Byers was unable to even properly diagnose the problem over a course of 2 days. Not only did they try to upsell me 4 tires and a wheel, at a cost of over $2,000 they either were unable to diagnose the simple problem, or unwilling to address it. Either they don’t know what they’re doing or they are liars. I had asked them to check the wheel bearing multiple times, and they didn’t even bother. They were only interested in upselling me new tires and a wheel that I did not need. They also were totally fine letting my son drive around with a damaged wheel bearing, which is a serious safety concern. I own 2 cars purchased from Byers Dublin Subaru and will never do business with them again, as they are either grossly incompetent, or liars. More

Two "complaints" are (1) my $10 discount coupon arrived in the mail the day of my service AFTER my service. I mentioned that I normally had one of those but was charged full price. (2) When I got in my car after the service, the seat had been moved forward enough that getting in my car was uncomfortable. It wasn't moved so much that I noticed but I sure felt it. More
