This is a big shiny dealership. My salesperson was very nice. But I wasn't happy that they failed to do a smog check on the vehicle I bought. I was not happy that they failed to get a factory recall taken care of before selling the vehicle. The sales manager offered us lunch or dinner to make up for the inconvenience to me, and to reimburse me for the smog check. They did reimburse me for lunch and smog check, however there was confusion about it. I drove to Canoga Park to get reimbursed, and apparently, they had mailed me the checks. So, I wasted my time. It was very nice to be offered lunch and reimbursement, but I would have preferred not to have to fix the recall and get the smog check. More

Carmax was very easy to deal with. I found the car I wanted and was able to have it shipped to a location much closer to me. I don't understand the 2 star review under "What Others Say". I have bought multiple cars from CarMax and they always back up their car sales with excellent service. First, they give you a warranty and a t Say". I have bought multiple cars from CarMax and they always back up their car sales with excellent service. First, they give you a warranty and a time frame to return. Second, you can buy an EXTENDED warranty. Third, if you have an issue, calling their service department is how you get good customer SERVICE. It's very clearly explained when you buy a car. Still not satisfied? Then stop in and they will address any issue that you have. BTW, they go over all safety issues when you do buy a car. Instead of complaining, the customer should've called CarMax (not the salesperson) or just stopped by. It has always worked for me! More
There are 2 parts to this review. The first, pre sale, was excellent!! I had no complaints. The sales rep was extremely helpful. He explained everything about the sale and would repeat items multiple times if I didn’t understand something! He gave me his cell phone number to call if I had any questions or problems. Then the sale occurred and things changed. I knew I had 10 days to return the car if there was a problem. I took the car to my own mechanic to have it evaluated. I was told that the tires were old even though there was still tread on them. I found out that car manufacturers recommend replacing tires after 6 years. 3 of my tires were 8 years old and 1 was 5 years old. The mechanic said 3 needed to be changed but it was best to change all 4. Also the oil pump was overfilled and could cause a problem. I called the sales rep that was so helpful before the sale and requested a return call explaining there was a problem with the car. He did not return my call. I called the next day and again stated there was a problem and to please call me back. No return call. I thought customer service is supposed to be pre and post sale! Then the 10 days were up and I would not be able to return the car or have my problem addressed. I guess the idea is to sell, sell, sell! So the bottom line is as long as there are no problems, CarMax is great! If there’s a problem, they don’t want to know about it, customer service is terrible! There was no customer service!!!!! Now I’ll be buying the new tires and left with the memory of CarMax not interested in customer safety! More
