They are very nice people but it seems that most things just don’t happen unless I push people. For instance I got a call last week telling me that my license plates were there. One person said they would mail them USPS, he verbally gave me a tracking number. Another person told me they would be sent FedEx. The tracking number doesn’t work. They told me they would email the FedEx tracking number. The plates were supposed to be here by yesterday. I have no plates, no tracking number was sent. So I am sitting here wondering if the plates are lost and the business office is closed. This is typical of the entire deal. More
Everyone was great to work with. I love the app that allows for filters to get exactly what vehicle and features that you want. No price negotiations is fantastic. I love the app that allows for filters to get exactly what vehicle and features that you want. No price negotiations is fantastic. More

I've enjoyed buying cars with CarMax - they are generally in good shape, it's hassle free, and they offer good trade in. However, the one I just purchased was poorly conditioned compared to my prior purchase in good shape, it's hassle free, and they offer good trade in. However, the one I just purchased was poorly conditioned compared to my prior purchases: the seats, glass, interior trim, and areas of the exterior were pretty dirty, the tires were right on the edge of their threshold for replacement, and there was some unrepresented damage that they didn't previously show me that I noticed in the following days. As CarMax commands a premium over other used car dealers, I do have high standards for their preparation, and this vehicle did not meet them. The car is in mechanically good condition, although one of the serpentine belt tensioners is leaking and will likely need replacement. That said, CarMax did replace spark plugs, oil, radiator, and coolant in sales prep. I hope CarMax covers that under their 30 day warranty. As with all used cars, I recommend triple checking everything before purchasing. I love my new car though! More
Since I shopped with CarMax in the past, I was sure that I would be able to find a well cared-for car for a reasonable price. The staff go well above the level of what people expect a car dealership to be. I would be able to find a well cared-for car for a reasonable price. The staff go well above the level of what people expect a car dealership to be. Let alone used cars. They are not pushy and didn't rush my experience. They gave me information throughout the whole process that aided in my decision making process. In test driving the car, I found even more features I loved about the car and went home happy. More
I initially went to a competing used dealer, Titus-Will Ford in Tacoma looking for a Mercedes C63S. After looking the car over, pulling maintenance history, doing a test drive, and putting together a real Ford in Tacoma looking for a Mercedes C63S. After looking the car over, pulling maintenance history, doing a test drive, and putting together a real offer, we finally went back to make the offer. The salesman that I was sat down with Brian and he wrote an initial price that was $5,000 higher than what they ever advertised it for. I knew hos this was going to go. They refused to move on it and they have been eating the floor costs of the car for over 116 days now. So we went home and I spent the next week shopping nationally for a C205 Mercedes. I found the car that I wanted down in California. After calling the Carmax office, they stated that they could ship it up to the Lynnwood, WA location. I was prepared to fly down to look at and likely purchase it, but when she informed me that shipping was $299, that was cheaper than a plane ticket, driving, and any stress associated with it. I was able to track the delivery of the car with the Carmax app. Every day was a certain level of excitement for this car. Then it arrived, had a cleaning and inspection, and I was notified that I was ready for an appoint to be scheduled. I did it as the first available and getting there was easy. I was greeted and waited about 5 minutes before Jonah met us. He unlocked the car and told us to check it out while he got our licenses and insurance information. We went back in and waited for him to come out and bring the car around. We did the test drive and the intent to buy was sealed. We went in with Jonah and proceeded to fill out the paperwork. There was an issue with my check but they worked with me. I called my bank and I was able to buy the car on my debit card. I had previously spoken to the local Mercedes-Benz dealer about the potential of getting a warranty through them. I was informed that they were well aware of how to navigate the Carmax warranty services and they almost never had a warranty rejection, so they highly recommended the addition of it. I added the warranty as well. The in and out experience was very easy. The price is a fixed value, set at their lowest possible unless something is drastically wrong and you negotiate it, the price listed is the price you will pay. Their online calculator is fairly good in giving you a reasonable final price. I live in another county in the state and while my sales tax is 0.1% higher, my registration fees were several hundred lower. I never felt pressured and I would likely have been out of there earlier if I had not been chatty with Jonah. I highly recommend using Carmax. I never would have thought to use them in the past, but this experience has turned me into a repeat customer for our next used vehicle purchase. More

I found the car I was looking for on their website and stopped by to check it out. I was greeted right away and shown where the car was parked. There was no pressure at all—I felt at ease and wasn’t bomba stopped by to check it out. I was greeted right away and shown where the car was parked. There was no pressure at all—I felt at ease and wasn’t bombarded with questions. I asked them to hold the car while I secured the funds, and they gave me enough time to do so. The paperwork process was quick and easy. When it was time to get the keys, they discovered the battery had died and had a mechanic troubleshoot the issue. I specifically asked them not to jump-start it, as I didn’t want to risk getting stranded later due to a weak battery. While I waited, the sales rep offered to buy me dinner. I declined because I wanted to get home, but they insisted that I go to dinner even after I leave dealership and said they would cover it. They kept their word—I sent them the receipt, and three days later I received a check in the mail. That was a nice recovery for the inconvenience caused by the battery. Overall, I had a very pleasant buying experience from start to finish. It was a totally different and much better experience than a traditional dealership. More
