The entire experience at the dealership was wonderful. The trade-in was very easy and the paperwork was even easier. Fair offer on trade in. Jaxon was very helpful. Kept me in the loop at all times. He was integral in getting my car shipped to our location before my two week vacation. Jaxon was very helpful. Carmax was great for buying a car, but the service department is horrible! Had to constantly call and hunt down people for answers just to be told lies and excuses. Was moved to higher up and even the department is horrible! Had to constantly call and hunt down people for answers just to be told lies and excuses. Was moved to higher up and even then had to call repeatedly and hunt for answers. When I finally got my car back we were furious to find that after having my car for more than 2 weeks they didn’t fix the main issue we had. So, now we have to wait again just to take back when parts are in. Greatly considering getting rid of the Maxcare because this was horrendous! More

I prequalified for my 2023 Ford Mustang online, but the vehicle was located in another city. I paid roughly $100 to have it transported to the San Antonio CarMax location. Upon its arrival, I expected a st vehicle was located in another city. I paid roughly $100 to have it transported to the San Antonio CarMax location. Upon its arrival, I expected a straightforward process: test drive, negotiate the final price, pay the down payment, obtain insurance, and leave with the vehicle. That is not what happened. When I inspected the car, I immediately noticed damage that had not been disclosed before transport. I brought this to the salesman’s attention, and while he acknowledged it, I was told the damage would be repaired and that I would be reimbursed for the transport fee. Weeks later, neither of those promises have been fulfilled, and no one has contacted me regarding the repair or the reimbursement. During the test drive, I was sent out alone and I noticed an abnormal vibration in the vehicle. Having previously owned a 2013 Mustang, I knew this wasn’t normal. The salesman brushed off my concern, saying that’s just how Mustangs are made now. The vibration persists to this day and clearly indicates a mechanical issue, possibly spark plugs or coils. The sales experience itself was poor. The salesman’s shift ended before closing, and he repeatedly left the desk throughout the process, giving the impression that I was an inconvenience. He provided the wrong phone number for the insurance carrier twice and showed little interest in assisting with setup. I felt rushed, brushed off, and frankly disrespected. He selected the most expensive CarMax warranty that the lender would allow but had me sign a rejection form for gap insurance without ever discussing it. I can’t help but question whether that decision was driven by his commission structure. He also told me there was only one key for the car and offered a “discount” to have another made, which should have been provided from the start. The car was not detailed when delivered; I had to clean it myself. There was no spare tire in the trunk. The salesman pressured me by saying the vehicle could sell by 9 PM that night: an obvious tactic to push the sale. Overall, this was an unprofessional experience from start to finish. The lack of communication, follow-up, and accountability speaks volumes about the company’s current standards. I do not recommend CarMax. Between the unresolved damage, dismissive service, misinformation, and failure to follow through on promises, this purchase experience has been one of the most disappointing I’ve encountered. More
