You get the car for a test drive (if I remember it correctly, they ask you to limit it to 20 or so minutes) and spend as much time inspecting it on the lot as you need. You can keep your hold on the car for the remainder of the day, so if you need to check alternatives, you have this opportunity. And 10 days return policy is just amazing, gives you the peace of mind. They offer you their warranty, which covers service not only with CarMax's shops, but official dealers too (at least in my case), which is pretty good too. They offer, but never press you on anything. That's the best part, I do not appreciate some car sellers approach to things like this. With CarMax it was easy and very pleasant. I must admit, that my experience with CarMax was so great and so above my expectations! More

Finally took possession of our car. This was actually a great experience, no hassle and most importantly no pressure. Had a 10 am appt. spoke on the phone with the salesperson on the way he had the car pulled up in the front for us all ready, importantly no pressure. I would definitely buy another used car from them. We were in and out in about 3 hours after test driving and going over the car, and doing financing and them cleaning up the car and placing a nice yellow bow on it so I could take a picture More
Carmax does not vet its cars well. We bought a Volvo xc90 that had had tons of issues with its paint already. Carmax painted the rear bumper and it looks worse than when we dropped it off. However we had no choice but to take possession of the car as the loaner they provided us REAKED of cigarettes. We have a young child we did not want in a cigarette car. Had I known their repair would be so bad I would have returned the car but we are now out of the return window. We will be looking into return options as we are completely unimpressed with Carmaxs quality. This is our second car purchase with Carmax and will likely be our last. Our first purchase also had several issues, stemming from a simple fix Carmax did incorrectly before we purchased the car. Carmax put the wrong battery in that vehicle. Carmax customer service has treated us well but their service department work is rough. Any work they’ve done for us always seems to need further professional work (by technicians outside of Carmax) to be done correctly. More
