I recently bought my first car here, and what should have been a thrilling, memorable moment turned out to be a massive letdown. From the start, I was assured by Amanda Johnson that the sales price would be been a thrilling, memorable moment turned out to be a massive letdown. From the start, I was assured by Amanda Johnson that the sales price would be $23,579.04, with my total ending up at no more than $26,000 after tax, title, and license—something I made sure to confirm several times and even signed a contract on. I was so excited; I had saved, planned, and felt ready to make this big decision on my own. But only a few weeks later, when I went over the paperwork with my loan consultant, I was confused to see that there was a $3,450 charge slapped on for 'aftermarket products' and a 'protective ceramic coating'—an add-on I’d explicitly declined. I remember telling them multiple times I didn’t want any extras, yet here it was, already applied and non-negotiable. They never once mentioned that this would be an unavoidable cost, and if anything they told me that everything would be taken care of by the warranty I foolishly agreed to sign up for (because I was lied to about pricing comparisons). I felt completely blindsided, especially when I realized that this sneaky charge pushed my total up to $27,029.04—far more than I’d agreed to or budgeted for. To put it into perspective... I got the low line K4, and for this price, I could have purchased the K5. And as if that weren’t enough, the manager (Andrew) lied to my face, telling me that my credit union’s warranty fee and interest rates had suddenly gone up and that Kia’s was a better option. I trusted them to guide me honestly through this big decision, thinking I was dealing with professionals who would be transparent with a young, first-time buyer. Instead, it felt like they saw me as an easy target, someone to take advantage of because I was handling this alone. I’m heartbroken and frustrated. This was supposed to be a joyful experience, but it left me feeling misled and manipulated. I never expected buying my first car to feel so exploitative. I thought I could trust them to be upfront, but now I’m left questioning everything about the integrity of Kia's sales tactics. This isn’t how buying your first car should feel, and it’s a shame that what should’ve been an exciting step in life has been tainted by dishonesty. More
