My Review of Commonwealth Honda:
09/2009 THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST DEALERSHIP I HAVE EVER BEEN TO! THEY ARE EXTREMELY RUDE AND DESPERATE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ANYONE! I went there to return a leased civic Si 06 with my mother, which any Honda dealer is required to do. Prior to returning it, my mother gave a courtesy call to Common Wealth Honda and spoke to an internet sales manager named Craig Clark who assured us that we could take the car in. However, because it is an inconvenience to take, this dealer decided to take advantage of us. I first walked around just looking at things while my mom brought the paper-work to the front desk to return the lease when a bunch of sales associates jumped on her like a pack of starving wolves about to feast. They asked what she would like to trade in the vehicle for but she explained that she didn't have time that day to look at cars, but would come back again to look at some another day.(Keep in mind I am away from my mom about 15ft, just watching and listening, and they have no clue that we came in together.) As soon as she said she was not buying today some of the sales associates or "wolves" left the pack. As one of the guys was doing the computer work and asking for information from my mom, a woamn, Kimberly Daher-Sales Manager, made a gesture of agreement with another sales associate next to her and said to the man using the computer,(with a grin on her face)"The computers are down. Rob!(he looks at her) The computers are down".(while she winks at him, grins, and does a double nod towards my mom, implying she was talking about my mom.)My mom was faced away from the female sales associate so she could not see the rude gestures that just took place or the fact that they were desperate to take advantage of her. My mother soon replied to the response "the computers are down" by saying,(In a friendly manner) "Ok, I'll wait here til its up again". "Rob" decided to take a look at the car with us and explained that we could leave the car here but could not assure us that the car would be processed or that they had any responsibility over it. We asked if we could have a form of writing saying that we returned the car and he said there was no way. So at this point I was frustrated that I simply could not return a car and still bothered about the event that took place earlier. Thinking of this, I decided to bring it up with "rob". When I asked him why they had done that he denied the whole thing and walked off angry and said" I don't need this!" I walked away so that I could calm my self down after all that had happened. My mother stopped him and spoke with him asking him if there was a manager she could speak to instead and he said, "I am the general manger, I'm the person who makes the last decesions here."(The Owner/president of this dealership is Charlie Daher although I called Commonwealth Honda and asked for the name of the general manager and was told it was Joe Grovino. However, there is no Joe Grovino listed as staff on the Commonwealth website. So either he lied to us or they used false names.)We then asked to speak with Craig the Internet sales manager so "rob" went to get him. When Craig showed up he explained that the computers are down and would not be up for another hour so it would be best for us to go to another local Honda dealer like Jaffarian or Atamian. He said he did not anticipate the computers to go down. My mom then said once again,(Still in a friendly manner)"Well, we could wait here then until the computers are up again." He said ok and walked away back to the main desk. He came back shortly and said, "The General Manger said that theres no way we are taking the car in so you should just go to one of the local dealers".(My mother and I were both shocked at the complete lack of customer service there.) We then asked if they could call Rockingham Honda or Atamian. Craig said, "there is no call needed because any dealer will take the car, no problem." So we asked again if they could call and reluctantly he agreed and walked away. About 30-45 seconds go by and he comes back and says," all set! They will take the car. (with a smile on his face). We then asked for the number to the stores and he said,(With a upset look on his face and expression like that of a kid who whines about not wanting to do chores) " You want the number? I just called them. Why would you want the number for?" We explained that it would be beneficial to have the number just in case. Again he reluctantly agreed and walked away for the number. What took him 30-45 seconds to call two dealers and confirm that we could return the car there took him 10 minutes to retrieve the number.(So I already knew that the story about calling both dealers was a lie.) He returned with the number for Rockingham Honda. We decided to call in front of him. As he stood anxiously, My mother spoke with the manger at Rockingham Honda and had to explain the whole situation to the manager.(Proving yet again that Craig lied about calling.) The Rockingham Honda manager was very polite but was confused on why Common Wealth would not take the car. After the explanation to Rockingham Honda, Rockingham agreed to take the car but was still confused of how Common Wealth was refusing to take our car.
Rockingham Honda turned out to be very polite and professional. I have done business with them before and they have always had good customer service.
In addition, my mother was referred a number by a friend to call a manager named Brian Hess, the general manager of the commonwealth Volkswagon dealership, who she called. She briefly explained the situation that happened with out indicating the day it took place. Before she could finish explaining he said," Well, I remember that day and their computers were down." My mother replied, "Well would you be able to help me contact the appropriate people in order to file this complaint?" He replied, "No I can't help you at all, bye!" and hung up.
Conclusion: Common Wealth Honda on 1 Commonwealth drive, in Lawrence, MA 01841 has the worst customer service. They are full of staff that are rude, lie, and try to take advantage of others by any means possible.
