My parents that are elderly, 85 and 84 - my father is hard hearing and my Mom has a hard time understanding things, were recently taken advantage of. They were trading in a 3 year lease vehicle from anot hard hearing and my Mom has a hard time understanding things, were recently taken advantage of. They were trading in a 3 year lease vehicle from another that had a substantial pay off amount. They were told the dealer was taking care of it, meaning the paper work, which my parents thought they were handling the pay off of the lease. Not once were they informed of the amount of payment they were paying to pay off the lease and turn the car over to Lexus of Fort Wayne. There was depreciation applied that added to the cost as well. Once I found out their monthly lease payment was $926 for 3 years which the dealer graciously lowered to $510 after my parents wrote a check for $15,000, I could not believe it. I know my parents and they would never agree to paying off a lease early and turning over the car to the dealer to resell at a hefty price of of $43,000. I placed a call to Patrick O'Keefe and advised him of my thoughts. After 16 minutes of attempted smooth talking by Patrick he admitted my parents paid off the remainder of the lease and turned the car over to them. I have informed my parents of the situation and needless to say they are sick. They are very frugal, conservative and hard working people (factory work and farmer for my dad, full time stay at home for my mom along side of helping my dad on the farm), which is why I am so upset they were take advantage of. If the dealer does not agree to help the out with this we will be contacting the Indiana State Attorney General. More
